Abstract

1,247,730. Spreading implement. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. 23 Dec., 1968 [27 Dec., 1967], No. 61168/68. Heading AID. A spreading implement has two control member plates 43, 44 situated beneath the opening 64 in the hopper 27. Material leaving the hopper passes through holes 66, 67 and 69, 70 in the plates to reach a spreading member 15 attached to a rotatable shaft 14. A setting arm 52 is connected by rods 50, 51 to projections 46, 47 on the plates and can be turned about axis 53 by control lever 60 to move the plates about the axis of the shaft 14. The rods are positioned at different distances, 72, 73, from the shaft 53 so that one plate, 44, moves at a faster rate than the other. From a zero position in which each plate blocks the outlet in the other the plates move round for progressive settings of the lever 60 so that the opening in the faster plate overtakes and overlaps the opening in the slower plate allowing more material through. The ratio between the different rates of rotation is determined by the setting of the rods 50, 51 in holes 52A. In a modification, Fig. 6, hopper has outlet 95, and two plates 96, 97 have outlets 98 which is similar to 95, and 110 which has one end tapered. Two setting arms 101, 105 are used to connect shaft 102 via rods 100, 104 to projections 99, 103 on the plates. The projections are on opposite sides of the central axis 111 and the setting arms are of unequal length and angularly spaced on shaft 102.
