Abstract

1,246,494. Pneumatic conveyers. H. HOLTER. 13 Dec., 1968 [2 Jan., 1968; 11 May, 1968], No. 59406/68. Heading B8A. A rotary feeder for feeding solid, liquid or pasty material such as concrete from a hopper 12 into a pneumatic conveying duct 14 is provided with sealing discs which are pressed against the upper and lower faces of the rotor with a pressure which varies in proportion to the pressure in the duct 14. As shown, the discs are engaged by plates 15, 16 which are connected by pillars 17 passing through the plate 16 and provided with hydraulic or pneumatic rams 18 connected to a regulator 20, the regulator being connected by a pipe 21 to the duct 14. The sealing discs may be stationary or rotary. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the feeder assembly is enclosed by a bellows-type apron which is connected to a suction pump to extract dust-laden air.
