Abstract

1,166,291. Fuel injection pumps. STANDARD SCREW CO. Oct.26, 1966 [Nov. 1, 1965], No. 48114/66. Heading F1A. In a rotary distributer type fuel injection pump, pressure equalization passages 130 are provided in the distributer 14 which connect the housing outlets 63 to the central distributer chamber 132 when the delivery passage 78 is not in communication therewith. Fuel is supplied to the chamber 132 by the pump plungers 44 through a valve 77. The fuel is delivered to the plunger cylinder 42 by a vane feed pump 18 via an air separator chamber 26, a valve (32, Fig. 3 not shown), which controls the output pressure of the feed pump in accordance with speed and a metering valve 34 operated by a centrifugal governor 31. The timing of the injection is adjustable in accordance with the speed by means of a piston (102, Fig. 4 not shown), subject to the output pressure of the feed pump and connected by a member (115) to the cam ring (50) actuating the pump plungers (44).
