A centrifugal spreader includes a hopper 1 positioned above two scattering discs 3, 4 mounted on the same vertical axis, on concentric drive shafts 15, 19, the two drive shafts being positively connected to a drive transmission which rotates discs 3, 4 in opposite directions of rotation, the upper disc 3 having large gaps in its surface for the passage of material from the hopper to the lower disc 4 which has no openings in it.
