Abstract

1,143,220. Coating metals. ANCHOR POST PRODUCTS Inc. 23 May, 1966 [15 Oct., 1965], No. 22915/66. Heading B2K. [Also in Division D1] A process for coating a metallic surface of an article comprises primer-coating the surface, applying a first coating of flexible plastics material in powder form to the primer coating and fusing said first coating to said primer coating, and applying a second coating of plastics material in powder form to said first coating and fusing said second coating to said first coating, the constituents of the coating material being such that the primer is bonded to the first coating and the second coating is bonded to the first coating. In the example, wire W is passed through a primer coating chamber 14, drying chamber 18 and into vertical coating chamber 40 and into preheater section 46 where a thin coating of vinyl polymer powder is applied and fused, into heaterooater circulator section 44 where a second coating of vinyl polymer powder is applied and fused, the resultant coating being post heated at 48, air quenched at 76 and water quenched at 80.
