Abstract
1,006,039. Heat exchangers; refrigerators. ALUMINIUM - UND METALLWARENFABRIK J. REIERT G.m.b.H. March 26, 1964, No. 13064/64. Headings F4H and F4S. A heat exchanger, such as a condenser for a refrigerator cabinet, comprises a serpentine pipe 1 arranged with its parallel pipe lengths 1A substantially vertical, connected in heat conducting manner to a sheet-metal plate 2 in such a way that the sheet-metal plate has twice its normal thickness of material near the connections with the pipe lengths 1A. Sheet-metal plate 2 has slots 3 formed by slitting the plate 2, and twisting the slots out of the plane of the plate so that the edges of the slots protrude equally from opposite sides of the plate. In Fig. 2, the pipe lengths 1A are held in C-shaped corrugations in sheet 2, the metal being doubled back at 5. Fig. 3 shows another embodiment in which separate panels 4 of length III have semicircular corrugations near their edges, pipe lengths 1A being held in co-operating corrugations of adjacent panels 4. The heat exchanger may be mounted with side panels on the rear wall of a refrigerator cabinet, Fig. 5 (not shown), the arrangement being such as to provide an upwardly widening duct between the heat exchanger and the cabinet.
