Abstract
1,002,847. Valves. LIPTON L.P. CARBURETTER CO. Ltd. March 18, 1964 [March 18, 1963], No. 10541/63. Heading F2V. Liquid enters a container through a tube 1, fitted with a valve member 9 hinged at 10 and urged towards open position by a spring 13 bearing against a projection 14 from the valve member. A projection 7 from a float arm prevents closure of the valve until a predetermined liquid level in the container is reached when the valve member is released to be closed by inflowing liquid impinging on it, a downturned lip 11 facilitating this action. When the supply if cut off the valve member is reopened by the spring 13. In a modification, a ported piston valve urged upwardly to its open position by a coil spring is employed and the float arm acts through a cam on a ball coacting with an annular groove in a stem depending from the piston valve.
