Abstract

900,750. Valves. SIMON Ltd., HENRY. Nov. 24, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 40807/59. Class 135. A remote control valve for regulating or controlling the flow of air in a pipe lined comprises a valve e operated by a bellows and having its interior in communication with a two-way valve i which can be operated to place the bellows interior under atmospheric pressure or under a higher pressure, the valve being closed by its bellows when the higher pressure is present in the bellows and being opened by the pressure in the pipe line on the upstream side of the valve when the pressure in the bellows is atmospheric. The interior of the bellows is pressurized by air supplied by a pump j. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the interior of the bellows is filled with a liquid supplied from a reservoir m, the surface of the liquid in the latter being acted upon by pressurised air. In operation, the valve i is actuated to put the reservoir in communication with the atmosphere, the inlet pressure in the pipe line d then opening the valve at a rate controlled by a restricted passage g located between the bellows and the reservoir.
