[Also in Division B5] A seat pad support for resiliently supporting an overlying padding on an underlying spring structure comprises a plurality of spaced, parallel wires 14 adhesively secured to one face of a supporting fabric sheet 6 and an overlying, stabilizing thermoplastic sheet or film 18 adhered to said one face by an adhesive 20 disposed substantially uniformly across the entire facing surface of the sheet or film 18 to form a composite sheet. The thermoplastic sheet 18 may be of plain or perforated e.g. of polyethylene or polypropylene, the fabric may be of burlap 6, and the adhesive may be a rubber base type. The composite sheet may be secured to the underside of seat padding by an adhesive or by adhesive tapes, or by penetration during the moulding of a foam padding through perforations in the thermoplastic sheet 18 to the fabric sheet 6. Open-mesh fabric supporting sheets 6 may be pre-treated with size e.g. polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl chloride. The wires 14 may be zig-zag. The seat pad support may be cut from a continuous sheet 52 (Fig. 5) formed by passing wires 22 from a reel 24 over an adhesive coating roller 28, between a fabric sheet 34 and a stabilizing sheet 18 which may be coated with adhesive by a roller 40, then through a curing oven 48 and thereafter between heated nip rollers 50.
