Abstract

1,046,060. Hose couplings. EMCO WHEATON Inc. Sept. 17, 1965, No. 39842/65. Heading F2G. A coupling for connecting a hose 86 to a fuel tank, for example, includes a body 10 incorporating a valve 30 opened by a lever 60 subsequent to connecting the body to the tank fitting and a rotatable interlock plate 38 provided with locking means 40 which enter notches formed in the tank fitting; rotation of the body allows lugs on the tank fitting to interlock with lugs on the notched flange 18 while the plate 38 is held to the fitting and rotates relative to the body. The plate has recesses which receive spring- pressed balls housed in the body and which engage in further recesses when the plate is in the " coupled "position. A spring-loaded plunger 54 registers with a countersink in the plate and is pushed downwardly by the lever 60 to prevent rotation of the plate and disconnection of the body, the valve 30 being simultaneously opened.
