Abstract

The device for quickly connecting a strap (5) to a portable object (2). It comprises a first clamping member (6) and a second clamping member (7), the first clamping member (6) being connected on the one hand to said portable object (2) and on the other hand to said second clamping member. (7) by an articulation (8) arranged at one of the ends of said first respectively second clamping members (6, 7) so as to allow said second clamping member (7) to pivot between an open position of introduction of said strap (5), and a closed position on the strap so as to retain the latter by clamping in a passage (12A, B) defined between said first and second clamping members (6, 7).

  The present invention relates to a device for quickly connecting a strap or lanyard to a portable object such as a bag, a satchel, a suitcase, a box, a sprayer, etc. A large number of different devices of this kind are known. They generally comprise a connecting piece in the form of a metal wire closed on itself to form a loop defining an opening through which one of the ends of the strap is introduced to be folded on itself and fixed by a sewing. In a relatively simple known device, the loop is connected to the portable object by a flexible tape fixed at one of its ends on the external face of the latter and introduced into the loop. The ribbon is at its opposite end provided with a press button which can be fixed on the external face of the portable object to

retain the loop on it.

  There is also known a device comprising a tab having the shape of an inverted L and which is fixed to the external face of the portable object. The strap is at its ends provided with loops of the type described above which can easily be introduced under the vertical branch of the tongue so as to be

  retained by the horizontal branch thereof when carrying the object.

  These known devices are generally provided with means for adjusting the length of the strap which usually comprise a loop with three parallel branches, one end of the strap then being fixed to a central branch and

  the strap passes through two slots defined on either side of this central branch.

  The object of the invention is to propose a device for quick connection of a strap to a portable object which is extremely simple and quick, which requires no sewing of the strap on a buckle, and which also allows easy adjustment. of the

  useful length of the strap without the need for specific adjustment devices.

  The object of the invention is a device for quick connection of a strap to a portable object, characterized in that it comprises a first clamping member and a second clamping member, the first clamping member being connected to on the one hand to said portable object and on the other hand to said second clamping member by a hinge disposed at one end of said first respectively second members of

  tightening so as to allow said second tightening member to pivot between an open position for introducing said strap, and a closed position on the strap so as to retain the latter by tightening in a passage defined between said first

and second clamping members.

  According to other characteristics of the invention: - said first and second clamping members are at their respective ends opposite to said articulation provided with means for locking said second clamping member on said first clamping member; - Said locking means are rapid locking means by snap-fastening; opposite surfaces of said first and second clamping members include protrusions constituting means for retaining the strap; - Said protuberances have the form of ribs arranged so as to define a staggered passage for the strap; - The rib-shaped protuberances have a triangular section with an apex directed towards said passage; - Said first clamping member has a slot over the entire height of said first clamping member, this slot being adapted to receive the end of the strap then deflected upwards in said passage; - Said second tightening member comprises first and second slots communicating with said passage, said first slot being able to receive the end of the strap then deflected upwards by said passage and protruding outwards through said second slot; - Said articulation extends substantially vertically; - Said articulation extends substantially horizontally; - the device is obtained by injection with at least an upper part of

the portable object.

  Figure 1 shows the quick connection device 1 according to the invention applied to a portable object in the form of a sprayer 2 composed of a generally cylindrical container 3 and an upper part 4 obtained by injection of a

plastic material.

  Part of a strap 5 is shown in this figure. It is intended to be connected to the sprayer 2 using two devices according to the invention which are identical and arranged diametrically opposite on the upper part 4 of the sprayer. The connecting device according to the invention comprises a first tightening member 6 generally parallelepipedic connected to a second tightening member 7 generally parallelepipedic by an articulation 8 allowing the second member

  clamp 7 to close on the first clamp 6 like a jaw.

  The first clamping member 6 is further connected to the sprayer 2 and in the example illustrated, the first and second clamping members 6, 7, as well as the articulation 8, are advantageously obtained in one piece with the upper part 4 of the sprayer 2 by injection molding of a plastic material. Alternatively, only the first clamping member is obtained in this way and the joint 8 is in this case constituted by a conventional hinge and the

  second clamping member is manufactured separately.

  Of course, the first clamping member can be connected to the portable object by any suitable means such as by screwing, gluing, riveting etc. It can also be connected to the portable object by a flexible means itself fixed to

the portable object.

  In the first embodiment illustrated in Figures 1 to 4, the articulation extends substantially vertically and the second clamping member 7 can pivot from right to left from an open position illustrated in Figures 1 to 3 to a position

closed illustrated in Figure 4.

  The first and second clamping members 6, 7 are, when they are in their closed position, locked relative to each other using means of

  respective locks arranged at their respective ends opposite the joint.

  The first clamping member 6 is provided with a first locking member in the form of a tongue 9 capable of cooperating with a second locking member in the form of a slot 10 made in the second clamping member. The material of the first and second clamping members is sufficiently elastic to

  allow rapid locking by snap-fastening.

  The second clamping member 7 is also at its free end provided with a lug 11 having bearing surfaces for the fingers of an operator also

  both for closing and for opening.

  When the first and second clamping members 6, 7 are in their closed position, they define between them a slot forming a passage 12 for the strap 5. Preferably, a half 12A of the passage is made in the first clamping member 6, while the second half 12B is performed in the second

clamping member 7.

  Of course, the width of the passage 12 is adapted to the width of the strap 5 and the thickness is such that the strap is tightly tightened therein while allowing the second tightening member 7 to be closed on the strap using ways to

s locking 9, 10.

  As a variant, the locking means may consist of a screw or screw and nut connection, but in this case, the closing is of course slower. In order to improve the retention effect of the strap 5 inside the passage 12 between the first and second tightening members 6, 7, the internal walls of the latter advantageously include protrusions 13 constituting means for retaining the strap 5. In the example illustrated, these protrusions are constituted by ribs arranged alternately on these interior walls so that

  the passage 12 is a staggered passage for the strap 5.

  1 5 The ribs 13 preferably have a triangular section with an apex

  directed towards the interior of passage 12.

  According to a variant not illustrated, the protuberances are constituted by pins placed on the inner walls of the first and second clamping members

6, 7 defining passage 12.

  In order to further improve the grip of the strap between the first and second clamping members 6, 7, a slot 14 is made over the entire height of the first clamping member 6. This slot 14 is capable of receiving the end of the strap 5 which enters the slot from above, exits from the slot from below and is then deflected upwards

in passage 12.

  Figures 5 to 7 show a second embodiment of the invention in which the joint 8 extends substantially horizontally. The structure being

  very similar to that of the first embodiment, it will not be described in detail.

  Here we find a first clamping member 6 connected to a second clamping member 7 by this articulation, as well as quick locking means by snap-fastening

  having a tongue 9 and a slot 10.

  Also in this case, the passage 12 between the first and second member of

  clamping 6, 7 is provided with protrusions 13 in the form of ribs which are arranged on the inner wall of the first clamping member 6. However, unlike the ribs in the first embodiment, these ribs 13 are arranged opposite grooves 15 made in the inner wall of the second clamping member 7. These grooves and ribs thus form a staggered passage

for strap 5.

  In order to allow the strap to enter the passage 12 which, because of the presence of the horizontal joint, is closed at the bottom, a first slot 16 forming an inlet slot is provided in the wall of the second tightening member 7, and 1o a second slot 17 forming an outlet slot is arranged above the

  first slot 16 in the wall of the second clamping member.

  Thus, for the establishment of the strap 5 in the passage 12 when the first and second clamping members are in the open position shown in Figures 5 and 6, the strap is first introduced by the first slot 16 to come out

through the second slot 17.

  Thanks to the device according to the invention, it is extremely simple to put the strap in place and tighten it between the first and second tightening members 6, 7

  while adjusting the useful length of the strap as desired.

  It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described by way of example, but that it can be modified by a person skilled in the art without for

  as well go beyond the scope of the invention.

  Also, the quick connection device according to the invention can be associated with a

  any portable object to be fitted with a strap.

Claims (11)

  1. Device for quickly connecting a strap (5) to a portable object (2), characterized in that it comprises a first clamping member (6) and a second clamping member (7), the first member clamp (6) being connected on the one hand to said portable object (2) and on the other hand to said second clamping member (7) by a hinge (8) disposed at one end of said first and second clamping members respectively (6, 7) so as to allow said second tightening member (7) to pivot between an open position for introducing said strap (5), and a closed position on the strap so as to retain the latter by tightening in a   passage (12) defined between said first and second clamping members (6, 7).   2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that said first and second clamping members (6, 7) are at their respective ends opposite to said articulation (8) provided with locking means (9, 10) of said   second clamping member (7) on said first clamping member.   3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that said locking means (9, 10) are quick locking means by snap-fastening.   4. Device according to any one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that opposite surfaces of said first and second clamping members (6, 7) have protuberances (13) constituting means for strap retention (5).   5. Device according to claim 4, characterized in that said protuberances have the form of ribs (13) arranged so as to define a   staggered passage for the strap (5).   6. Device according to claim 5, characterized in that the protrusions in the form of ribs (13) have a triangular section with an apex directed towards said passage (12).   7. Device according to any one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that said first clamping member (6) has a slot (14) over the entire height of said first clamping member, this slot being able to receive   the end of the strap (5) then deflected upwards in said passage (12).   8. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized by   the fact that said second clamping member (7) has first and second slots (15, 16) communicating with said passage (12), said first slot being able to receive the end of the strap then deflected upwards by said passage (12) and protruding outwards through said second slot (16).   9. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterized by   the fact that said articulation (8) extends substantially vertically.   10. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 6 and 8, characterized   by the fact that said articulation (8) extends substantially horizontally.   11. Device according to any one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that the device (1) is obtained by injection molding with   at least an upper part (4) of the portable object (2).
