Description

Fluid treatment process based on ester-phosshate of a hydraulic circuit.

The present invention relates to a process for treating hardly flammable fluids based on phosphate ester.

The fluids are used in hydraulic regulation or lubrication circuits.

These fluids under the action of heat and water coming from the humidity of the air decompose in phosphoric acid or in ester-phosphate compounds with acid character. These acids and compounds are harmful because they attack sensitive parts of the regulation circuits and significantly reduce the service life of the fluid in service.

To regenerate these fluids, filters are used provided with a product which traps phosphoric acid and its compounds.

In particular, fuller's earth or alumina are used.

However, fuller's earth contains impurities in the form of calcium carbonates and magnesium which are difficult to remove and which form, with phosphoric acid and its compounds, phosphates of Mg and Ca which then deposit.

These deposits are very harmful to the hydraulic circuits, as they can cause blockage of the servo-mechanisms.

Commercial alumina, on the other hand, has the drawback of containing sodium which, with phosphoric acid, forms sodium phosphate, also leading to the formation of insoluble deposits.

The method according to the invention is characterized in that silica gel is used.

The present invention will now be described in more detail with reference to a particular embodiment cited by way of nonlimiting example and shown in the figure of the accompanying drawing.

FIG. 1 represents an installation for treating a hardly inflammable fluid based on esterphosphate.

The fluid contained in the tank 1 is sent to a device 2 for dehydration.

This device 2 comprises an absorbent material retaining water.

The output of the device 2 is connected to the input of a regeneration device 3 provided with silica gel.

The device 3 is followed by a mechanical filter 4 used to prevent any release of the silica gel.

The outlet 5 of the filter 4 is returned to the tank.

A hydraulic pump 6 is used to set the fluid in motion.

The mechanical filter 4 is provided with a contact fouling indicator 7 making it possible to monitor the pressure drop.

Pressure gauges 8 are arranged in front of each filter device 2, 3, 4.

The entire treatment system is fitted with a protective valve 9 arranged in parallel on the filtering devices and these are fitted with drain valves 10 and air vents 11.

o
porosité 60 A

Ar, Ar', Ar" étant des radicaux d'aryle. Ar, Ar ', Ar "being aryl radicals.

In operation, in the presence of water and heat, the aryl radicals by hydrolytic or thermal degradation are replaced by hydrogen ions (H) by generating phosphate esters of acid or phosphoric acid character. The hydrolytic and thermal degradation reactions are auto-catalytic; the acid compounds formed contribute to the acceleration of the reaction process.

By circulating the fluid through the filter (such as a sock filter) containing the silica gel, the phosphoric acid and its compounds are blocked by adsorption. This adsorption action due to the large specific surface area of the silica allows physical retention of the acid compounds while ensuring partial discoloration of the fluid in service.

Removal of water and acidic compounds helps maintain a low acid number of the fluid in service without harmful solid compounds being generated.
