Abstract

A floor surface consists of an under-layer of an elastic material covered with a relatively hard surface layer, the two layers being allowed to flow into place and the coating being pumiced after drying. Pref. the under-layer is prepd. from granules of rubber embedded in a polyurethane prepolymer. The surface layer consists of a bicomponent polyester-polyether/aromatic isocyanate coating. The floors of games rooms need to be supple (so as not to cause muscular fatigue), but with a relatively hard surface to permit precise rebounding of balls. The surface must be matt, to avoid unwanted reflections, but should not allow the marks of footsteps to become obvious. The present surface is capable of continuous application over a complete playing surface, giving a water-tight and durable coating.
