Abstract

The bale loader for mounting on a bale wagon picks up bales lying flat as opposed to lying on their edge. The bale loader (4) comprises a U-shaped structure open at the forward end and comprising a pair of opposed side walls (23, 24), bridged by a rear wall (25). One side wall (23) has an upper edge (28) over which bales picked up by the loader are tipped when discharged from the elevator (44). The elevator has a lower bale receiving end and an upper bale discharge end. The discharge end of the elevator (44) is positioned at the level of the upper edge (28) of the side wall (23) so that the bales disengage the elevator was they tip around that edge.
