Abstract
The container is carried to a filling point where a filling tube is inserted alongside two electrodes acting as sensors for the control system. A long electrode extends nearly to the bottom of the container, are parallel to it as a short electrode which terminates above the determined filling level. The latter electrode is screened by a curved plate which terminates below the expected filling level, and which protects it from bubbles and foam when the level rises. The electrodes are connected to a circuit which operates a valve in the supply line to the filling tube. The protection plate may be perforated, and other variations of the design include using the lower electrode itself as a screen.
