Abstract
A separation and recovery processing line is used for twisted cables where there is normally a separate load carrying central steel wire within copper or aluminium conductors. The cable (5) to be salvaged is fed into a rotating cutter (4) which breaks it into short lengths (6). These are then taken to a degreasing is achieved by burning off (34) the unwanted material within a rotating enclosure (33). The degreased elements (35) are passed to a further conveyor (10) and a magnetic separator (10a) integral with the conveyor end roller, the various cable components being collected separately.
