Abstract

The cable material recovery machine is designed to increase the yeild from scrap electrical cables of all sizes and types. This is intended to include single wire and multiple wire and single and multilayer insulation types. Recovery of the plastics and metal armouring is included with that of the inner copper conductors. The system is non-pollutant generating. Scrap cable undergoes a series of operations including, cutting to size using rotary shears, stripping using high speed rough surfaced drum rollers, and separation using a magnet and density sensitive unit. This is followed by packing of the individual component elements. The design includes automatic feed through the various stages minimizing manual intervention and relies on roller, belt and gravity feed systems.
