Abstract

Break-spun yarn leaves the spinning rotor via an elbowed delivery tube subjected to the rotor vacuum, and the outgoing yarn is effected by a twisting element defining a ridge across which the yarn runs and is modified. The ridge is formed by a turn of a helically twisted wire which is jammed within the tube, the wire having further turns upstream and downstream of the elbow housing the single turn which forms the ridge. The ridge tends to impart a temporary twist increase in the yarn, being false-twist which is lost as the yarn leaves the delivery tube, but which helps the spinning process. Pref. the wire is piano wire, and its twist helex angle is about 45 degrees.
