Abstract

Yarn is false twisted by passage through a rotating false twist bush and then through a restrictor device which limits the formation of the yarn into a balloon downstream of the twist bush and allows it to take up an undulating consign. The restrictor device extends over several wave lengths of the undulating yarn downstream of the false twist bush. By preventing the yarn from forming a balloon the tension on the yarn is reduced thereby reducing the number of breakages.
