Abstract

The collector is in the form of radial strips forming an overall that disc and is intended for motor vehicle starters. The design maximises the electrode life and ensures good thermal conductivity away from the pick-up surfaces. Manufacture consists of drilling radial defining lines on a copper sheet (1) whose thickness is chosen to be consistent with the required lifetime. The drilling creates radial slots (3) the edges of which are folded over (6) to form a keying base for the encapsulation (9) of the rear surface.
