Abstract
The cut-out switch includes fixed and moving contacts biased apart by a spring. A latch mechanism holds the contacts together in the closed circuit posiiton, but may be unlatched to open the circuit. A bimetal strip is arranged to act against one end of the latch lever so as to operage the cut-out of the temperature rises. In addition an electromagnetic and an electro-dynamic relay are arranged to mvoe a rod in such a way as to pivot and unlatch the latch lever. The cutout switch operates both thermally and magnetically to break the supply circuit rapidly if excess current is passed, or the temperature rises.
