Abstract

A bottle stop assembly (1) includes an elastic sleeve (3) whose leading end is closed by a semishperical cap (3a). The trailing end of the sleeve (3b) has an external flange which locates against the end face of the bottle (5). An external plastic cap (4) is attached to the flange (3b) so that the stop can be pulled out of the bottle. When, after filling the bottle, the stop is placed in position, a sphere (2) is pressed into the elastic sleeve (3). This forces the outside diameter of the sleeve against the inside of the bottle. Thus liquids which produce carbon dioxyde pressure can successfully be sealed off with this stop.
