Abstract

Casting nozzle and pipe for continuous casting plant, where the bottom end of the pipe is immersed in the molten steel in the mould. In the pipe, and above the surface of the molten steel, is a side inlet contg. a plug permeable to gas; and argon is fed into the pipe via the plug. The plug is pref. located in a bush fitted with an inlet pipe for the argon. Both the side inlet in the casting pipe, and the outside dia. of the bush pref. have a contical taper for the secure fixing of the bush. Continuous casting of steel, where Ar is fed into a casting pipe which also forms an outlet nozzle on the base of a tundish; the nozzle is closed by a stopper rod. The invention ensures that no air can leak into the casting pipe.
