Abstract

The shock absorber is intended to improve the quality of ride and silence of a vehicle by reducing the amount of shock absorption when the wheel is displaced vertically at more than a certain speed. The absorber consists of an interior cylinder (1) divided into two working chambers (7, 8) by a piston (4) provided with valves (9, 10) permitting the controlled passage of fluid between the two chambers. An intermediate cylinder (11) and an external cylinder (14), forming the body of the absorber, define an intermediate chamber (12) which is connected via holes (13) to the working chambers, and an external compensating chamber (17) which is connected by a valve into the working chambers.
