Abstract

La présente invention concerne un nouveau convertisseur d'affinage des métaux à l'état liquide, comportant à la fois un moyen de chauffage et un jeu de tuyères de soufflage. A cet effet, la présente invention a pour objet un convertisseur d'affinage des métaux liquides, à chauffage et à soufflage simultanés, caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte une cuve tournant sur elle-même d'une part et solidaire d'un berceau de basculement d'autre part, ladite cuve étant munie d'un bec de coulée et d'un jeu de tuyères de soufflage et étant surmontée, en position opératoire normale, d'une coiffe tronconique et d'une hotte de captage des gaz. Le dispositif selon l'invention s'applique spécialement bien aux méthodes d'affinage de l'acier utilisant un chargement important de matières solides, telles que des produits préparés granulés ou préréduits, des ferro-alliages, des fondants.
