Abstract

The cut grass is collected and compacted before being deposited on the ground or into the collector box. This reduces the labour involved in disposing of the clippings. The cut grass enters a duct (61) on the side of the casing (1). Inside is an Archimedean screw (7), driven from the motor (3), which forces the clippings into a second duct (62) of smaller diameter than the first. This constitutes the first compaction of the grass. A spring loaded flap (8) in the second duct opens only after further compaction of the clippings which collect against it until a predetermined pressure is reached. The compacted material is then ejected.
