Abstract

A reactor employs catalyst supported on a porous bed through which combustible gas passes a motor-driven agitator continuously removes combustion prods. from the catalyst surface and generates a flow of combustion air. The reactor is useful for the exothermic gaseous catalytic reactions. Reactors of similar kind normally require preheating of catalyst to about 200 degrees C and suffer from uneven flow distribution leading to uneven temp. distribution resulting in a loss of efficiency. Present reactor ensures even flow distribution throughout the catalyst and removal of combustion prods. ensures that no blanketing of catalyst surface occurs. In this way even temp. distribution and high efficiency are obtd.
