Abstract
Anti-perspirant cpds. (I) of formula MO(OH2)2-aXa.nH2O (where M is Zr or Hf; X is Cl, Br or I; a = 1.5-1.87 and n = 1-7) of mol. wt. pref. 300-25,000 partic. 30-1500, Also compositions of the above are used (0.15-1.5 pts) in compsns. contg. a cpd. (Al2(OH)6-mXm n1H2O (where m = 0.8-2; and n1 = 0-12) (1 pts) and an aminocarboxylic acid with an equal number of carboxy and gps. (0.06-0.6 pts) pref. alanine, serine, 2-aminobutyric acid, valine, beta-(phenyl)alanine, methionine, tryptophane and esp. glycerine (I) are prepd. by dissolving a Zr or Hf salt, pptg. with a strong base, washing and dissolving in a haloacid; the compsn. is prepd. by dissolving the components and concentrating to 1-30%. Also an aerosol compsn. contg. 1-12% of the above anti-perspirant compsn. 0.1-5% suspension agent, 1-15% liq. vehicle and 70.7-93.9% propellant. Prods. are more effective, and the Zr is non-irritant to skin or damaging to clothing.
