Abstract
Reduction is performed in a blast furnace and the molten iron is obtained using a gaseous mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, which results in the formation of carbon dioxide and water. Part of the cooled and purified waste gas is enriched with a fluid hydrocarbon-containing fuel and the mixture is heated and fed to reduction zone in the furnace shaft at a temp. of 760-1093 degrees C to complete the reduction of the iron oxides to molten iron.
