Abstract
Ecdysones of formula (I), in which R3 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon chain with an OH gp. are obtained from leaves and/or rhizomes of Polypodium leucotomos, Phebodium decumanum and Cyatea taiwaniana by (a) drying at 70 deg.C; (b) pulverising; (c) extracting with boiling ethanol and evaporating to a syrup; (d) dissolving in water at 50 deg.C; (e) distributing between n-hexane and water in ratio 10:4, to separate lipo-soluble substances; (f) absorption chromatography to obtain
