Abstract

Procedure for coating small diameter steel tubes with metal, characterized in that it comprises the steps of: moving the tube in one path, while heating the tube to a temperature of the order of 300º to 700ºC to burn any surface contamination; the tube is further heated by induction heating to at least a temperature of 650ºC for a time sufficient to effect virtually complete recrystallization; the tube is jet-cooled to approximately bath temperature for coating; passing the tube ascending vertically through a molten plating metal bath; protect the tube from oxidation by a protective atmosphere from the moment it is first heated until it enters the molten metal bath; jet finish the coated tube immediately after emerging from the coating bath; and rapidly cooling the coated tube with water to produce rapid solidification of the coating.
