Abstract

A valve device having a valve body defining a valve chamber, inlet and outlet passages formed in said valve body and intersecting said valve chamber, said valve body defining opposing closure surfaces formed within said chamber valve around said inlet and outlet passages, a connector flange formed at the upper end of said valve body and defining an opening to said valve chamber, a defined guide surface within said valve body, a valve cap having a cap flange formed therein and arranged in watertight bearing with said connector flange to form a closure for said valve body, means securing said bonnet flange in watertight bearing with said connector flange, a stem valve supported within said cap and movable relative to it, a support housing that descends from said cap te and extends within said valve chamber, said support housing catching said guide surface to precisely orient said support housing within said valve body, seat means supported by said housing and located in closing application with said closure surfaces, a valve member having a port disposed within said support housing in sealing engagement with said seat members and connected at its upper end to said stem, said stem moving said valve member between a closed position in which said valve member effectively blocks the flow of fluid through said inlet and outlet passages and an open position in which said port is arranged to coincide with said inlet and outlet passages.
