Abstract
Electrolysis system for the removal of chlorine ion from seawater through the use of solar energy and obtaining insoluble chlorides in water and obtaining sodium nitrate. The invention has a tank (1), one liter capacity, fed with sea salt water, previously stored in a large capacity tank (2) that we will transfer with a pump (3), from the tank (2) to the deposit (1). This has a closing-opening mechanism by means of a buoy (4) that prevents the passage of water, once the desired level has been reached. Inside the tank (1), we will introduce two electrodes, one of molybdenum (5) and another, chosen as an example, of silver (6). Both electrodes (5 and 6) are connected to a 12-volt, 60-amp battery (7), which is recharged by solar energy. The molybdenum electrode (5) is connected to the negative pole of the battery (7) and the silver electrode (6) is connected to the positive pole of the battery (7). To the salt water of the tank (1), we will add about 30 milliliters of nitric acid, for the formation of an electrolyte. At the passage of the direct current of the battery (7), by the electrodes (5 and 6), the combination of chlorine in the silver electrode occurs (6) causing the elimination of the chlorine ion from seawater, production of silver chloride, chlorine gas and the appearance of sodium nitrate in water.
