UN SIMULADOR PARA UN SISTEMA DISTRIBUIDO DE CONTROL DE PROCESO, UTILIZA UNA ESTACION SIMULADORA, COMO UN INTERFAZ ENTRE UN ORDENADOR MODELANTE DE PLANTA Y UNA INSTRUMENTACION, Y UN SISTEMA DE CONTROL QUE UTILIZA UNIDADES DISTRIBUIDAS DE PROCESAMIENTO REALES (DPUS), QUE EJECUTAN SOFTWARE REAL DE CONTROL DE PROCESO. LA MEMORIA DE LA ESTACION SIMULADORA TRANSFORMA SEÑALES DE DETECCION, RECIBIDAS DEL ORDENADOR MODELANTE DE PLANTA A TRAVES DE MEMORIA REFLECTIVA, DIRECTAMENTE HASTA UN INTERFAZ TRANSFORMADOR DE MEMORIA DE ENTRADA/SALIDA (I/O) DE CADA DPU, A UN RANGO DE EXPLORACION, O A UN MULTIPLO DEL RANGO DE EXPLORACION DE LA DPU, Y PROPORCIONA LAS SEÑALES DE CONTROL GENERADAS POR LOS DPUS HASTA EL ORDENADOR MODELANTE DE PLANTA, A LOS MISMOS RANGOS. UN BUS DE DATOS, COMO EN EL SISTEMA REAL, PROPORCIONA COMUNICACIONES ENTRE LOS DPUS, Y ENTRE LOS DPUS Y LAS ESTACIONES OPERADORAS (Y POTENCIALMENTE OTRAS ESTACIONES DE INTERFAZ HOMBRE-MAQUINA), QUE PROPORCIONAN SEÑALES OPERADORAS UTILIZADAS POR LOS DPUS. LA ESTACION SIMULADORA ESTA CONECTADA TAMBIEN A LAS ESTACIONES OPERADORAS MEDIANTE EL BUS DE DATOS, PARA RECIBIR LAS SEÑALES OPERADORAS QUE PUEDEN INCLUIR SEÑALES QUE CONTROLAN EL FUNCIONAMIENTO DEL SIMULADOR.
