Abstract

The invention relates to a method for delivering a fluid such as fuel oil EL from a remote storage tank (12) via a delivery line (7) by means of reduced pressure to a storage vessel (1), in which the reduced pressure is generated by means of a mechanically operable pump (11) arranged at the end of the delivery line. In order to prevent dry running of the feed pump, there is fed into the (main) delivery line (7), a short distance upstream of the entry of the delivery line (7) into the pump (11) and via an auxiliary line (14) which debouches (at 15) into the delivery line and has a considerably smaller delivery cross-section compared to the delivery line (7), fluid of the same type as the delivered fluid.
