Abstract
Pressing procedure with polymer materials to obtain briquettes using ferro-alloys.Consists in mixing fine particles with a certain quantity of Polymer which acts as a binding agent, followed by pressing the mixture using rigid moulding matrices to obtain the agglomerates or briquettes by pressure compaction, producing intimate binding and bonding between the fine particles and the binding polymer. Thermoplastic polymers and thermosetting polymers are used as binding agents. The briquettes and agglomerates can be used directly in the iron and steel industry, unlike the fine particles which cannot be easily used in these industries given the fact that their small diameter reduces their alloy yield and complicates dosing.The briquettes are made by mixing fine alloy particles with a certain amount of polymer as binder, and compacting under pressure in rigid moulds. Thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers may be used as binders.
