Definitions
- the invention relates to a motor vehicle for spreading gravel and compacting soil thus gravelled.
- the laying and/or maintenance of the surfacing of a traffic lane such as a road or a motorway is generally carried out by means of a chipping truck moving along the roadway and designed to deposit a granular material such as gravel in a substantially regular layer on the surface of the roadway on which a layer of a binder for agglomerating the granular material has been previously laid.
- the agglomerating binder may be formed, for example, of bitumen or asphalt.
- the layer of granular material is then compacted by means of a compactor separate from the chipping truck, traveling behind the chipping truck so as to create a roadway suitable for allowing comfortable driving of motor vehicles.
- Such a method is particularly well suited to the laying and/or maintenance of the surfacing of traffic lanes extending over long distances.
- Such known gravel trucks and compactors are unsuitable, due to their dimensions, for laying and/or maintaining the surfacing of a place with reduced accessibility such as a courtyard, an alley or a narrow and/or winding corridor or with a narrow area to be surfaced such as a sidewalk, in particular.

Description
The invention relates to a motor vehicle for spreading gravel and compacting soil thus gravelled.
The laying and/or maintenance of the surfacing of a traffic lane such as a road or a motorway is generally carried out by means of a chipping truck moving along the roadway and designed to deposit a granular material such as gravel in a substantially regular layer on the surface of the roadway on which a layer of a binder for agglomerating the granular material has been previously laid. The agglomerating binder may be formed, for example, of bitumen or asphalt. The layer of granular material is then compacted by means of a compactor separate from the chipping truck, traveling behind the chipping truck so as to create a roadway suitable for allowing comfortable driving of motor vehicles. Such a method is particularly well suited to the laying and/or maintenance of the surfacing of traffic lanes extending over long distances.
Such known gravel trucks and compactors are unsuitable, due to their dimensions, for laying and/or maintaining the surfacing of a place with reduced accessibility such as a courtyard, an alley or a narrow and/or winding corridor or with a narrow area to be surfaced such as a sidewalk, in particular.
In general, in the case of such a place with reduced accessibility - in particular reduced accessibility for a gravel truck - such as a courtyard, an alley or a narrow corridor and/or requiring the application of gravel and binder in a narrow strip, the installation of a coating and/or its maintenance is/are carried out manually by workers, for example by applying the binder to the roadway and then depositing the gravel with a shovel in a substantially regular layer on the layer of binder. Such manual gravel shoveling operations are arduous for the workers and this arduousness slows down the completion of the coating.

These spreading operations can be carried out using a motorized machine - particularly a car - allowing a layer of coating material to be deposited. In this case, the depositing and compacting operations must be carried out in two successive stages, a first stage of spreading the coating material over the entire surface to be coated, then, after spreading, a second stage of compacting the layer of coating material. Furthermore, in the case of operations to carry out a surfacing of a place - in particular a passageway - of small size and/or with reduced accessibility - such as a courtyard, an alley or a narrow and/or winding corridor or with a narrow area to be surfaced such as a pavement, in particular - it is appropriate to provide that these two successive stages are carried out in such a way that the spreading machine and the compactor vehicle are not present simultaneously on the same site, for reasons of congestion. The succession of the two necessary stages increases the duration of the surfacing operations and is therefore penalizing.
Spreading operations can also be carried out manually by workers. This work is arduous and this arduousness is likely to slow down spreading operations.
L'invention vise à pallier ces inconvénients.The invention aims to overcome these drawbacks.
The invention aims in particular to propose a device for graveling and compaction to reduce the time needed to produce compaction to reduce the time required to carry out floor covering operations in a location with reduced accessibility.
- un rouleau de tassement du sol sur lequel l'engin est susceptible d'être entrainé en déplacement, le rouleau faisant office d'essieu et présentant un axe de rotation sensiblement perpendiculaire à la direction de déplacement de l'engin, le rouleau s'étendant selon ledit axe de rotation continument sur la largeur -notamment sur toute la largeur- de l'engin ;
- une trémie de stockage de gravillons et de dépôt sur le sol des gravillons contenus dans la trémie par écoulement gravitaire contrôlé des gravillons à partir de la trémie ;

- a hopper for storing gravel and depositing the gravel contained in the hopper on the ground by controlled gravity flow of the gravel from the hopper;
The invention is characterized in that the hopper is mounted suspended at the front of the motor vehicle and comprises means forming a spacer for keeping the hopper at a distance from the compaction roller, the means forming a spacer are mounted integral with the hopper and comprise at least one bearing with an axis of rotation parallel to the axis of rotation of the compaction roller and adapted to be able to be driven in rotation by the cylindrical roller and keep the hopper at a distance from the compaction roller.
In the normal mode of use of the motor vehicle, the hopper is integral with the chassis of the motor vehicle and precedes the moving compacting roller. The machine according to the invention makes it possible to carry out in a single pass a deposit of gravel on a layer of tar previously formed on a ground to be coated and the compaction of the gravel thus deposited on the tar and their compaction with the tar so as to form an asphalt coating of a confined and/or difficult-to-access place, a roadway for motor vehicles, a cycle path or a sidewalk, in particular. The confined and/or difficult-to-access place may be the roadway of a narrow and/or winding road intended for the circulation of vehicles. It may also be a narrow sidewalk. The machine according to the invention makes it possible in particular to carry out this coating without the intervention of workers assigned to the spreading of gravel manually with a shovel. The coating is therefore carried out more quickly.
According to certain embodiments, the motor vehicle according to the invention comprises a single compaction roller. In these embodiments, the motor vehicle comprises a compaction roller extending at the front of the motor vehicle and at least one - in particular a single axle - carrying axle of at least two wheels arranged at the rear of the motor vehicle. However, nothing prevents the motor vehicle from comprising a compaction roller at the front and a compaction roller at the rear, the hopper being arranged at the front of the front compaction roller in the direction of movement of the vehicle.

However, nothing prevents the motor vehicle from being an articulated motor vehicle at least along a vertical pivot axis allowing the motor vehicle to be steered.
According to certain embodiments, the hopper is provided with at least one gravel distribution hatch arranged in the lower part of the hopper and adapted to, in a first state of the hatch, maintain the gravel in the hopper and to, in a second state of the hatch, allow a release - in particular a release by gravity - of gravel stored in the hopper. The (each) hatch is adapted to be able to release gravel from the hopper by simple gravity flow. The opening of the (each) hatch is adapted to be able to control the flow rate of gravel release from the hopper.
According to certain embodiments, the hopper is provided with a plurality of juxtaposed hatches, allowing selective opening of at least one hatch and controlled release of gravel from only a portion of the width of the hopper. In this embodiment, the moving motor vehicle makes it possible to deposit gravel on the ground from only a portion of the bottom of the hopper and in front of only a portion of the total width of the tread of the compacting roller. The motor vehicle according to the invention makes it possible to control the width of the strip of coating to be deposited. It is particularly suitable for depositing gravel and coating with a precision at least comparable to - or even better than - the precision obtained during graveling with a shovel.
According to certain embodiments, the hopper has a plurality of transversely juxtaposed hatches, each hatch comprising a flap provided with at least one actuator adapted to be able to drive the flap in movement and place the flap in a position, called the distribution position, in which the hatch allows a release of gravel stored in the hopper. Each hatch of the plurality of hatches allows a deposit of gravel on the ground according to at least one band of predetermined widths.
The actuator(s) may be of any type. According to certain embodiments, the hopper is provided with a comb for distributing the gravel released by the distribution slot. The comb extends in line with the bottom wall of the hopper.
According to these embodiments, the simple attachment of the hopper to a chassis and/or bodywork element of the machine and to the front of the machine suspended relative to the chassis and/or bodywork is possible due to the means forming a spacer keeping the hopper at a distance from the compaction roller - in particular the compaction roller driven in rotation.
In these embodiments, despite the mass of the hopper and the gravel contained in the hopper, the hopper is held at the front of the machine by simply suspending or attaching the hopper to a chassis and/or bodywork element of the machine and without friction of the compacting roller on the hopper. According to certain embodiments, the spacer-forming means comprise from 2 to 5 - in particular 3 bearings - bearings regularly distributed over the width of the hopper.
According to certain embodiments, the hopper may be mounted integral with a chassis and/or body element by a rigid connection so that the hopper is kept at a distance from the compaction roller due to this rigid connection.
According to certain other advantageous embodiments, the motor vehicle comprises reversible suspension/detachment means for attaching the hopper to a chassis and/or bodywork element of the vehicle. In these advantageous embodiments, the attachment of the hopper to the front of the vehicle and the voluntary detachment of the hopper are facilitated. Thus, to reduce the size of the vehicle during its movements, it is possible to detach the hopper and transport it independently of the vehicle. According to certain embodiments, the suspension/detachment means comprise at least one hook mounted integrally with a chassis and/or bodywork element of the vehicle. In these embodiments, the hopper has at least one slot adapted and arranged to be able to cooperate with this (these) hook(s) and suspend the hopper from the vehicle.

In other embodiments, the reversible suspension/detachment means of the hopper on a chassis and/or bodywork element of the machine comprise at least one cylindrical pivot - in particular a cylindrical pivot of revolution - mounted integral with the casing in the upper part of the hopper, each pivot being adapted to be able to cooperate with a notch formed in a chassis and/or bodywork element, said notch extending vertically and opening upwards. In these embodiments, the cylindrical pivot(s) are adapted to be able to be held in at least one complementary notch of the pivot(s) and suspend the hopper. Attaching the hopper to the front of the machine and deliberately unhooking the hopper are made easier.
According to certain advantageous embodiments, the reversible suspension/detachment means for attaching the hopper to a chassis and/or bodywork element of the machine are lockable suspension attachment means. In these embodiments, the lockable suspension attachment means comprise a valve adapted to be able to obstruct the mouth of the notch and prevent the hopper from being detached. In these embodiments, the attachment/detachment means being lockable, untimely detachment of the hopper during gravel depositing and compacting operations is prevented.
- d'une paroi avant supportant les volets et les actionneurs ;
- d'une paroi arrière supportant les moyens formant entretoise ;

In the normal mode of use of the automobile machine 1, the hopper 5 is integral with the chassis 23 of the automobile machine 1 and precedes the moving compaction roller 2. The hopper 5 is mounted integral with the chassis 23 and is not in contact with the ground. The hopper 5 is formed from a rigid material, in particular sheet metal of sufficient thickness to give the hopper 5 sufficient rigidity to allow the storage and conveying of gravel in the hopper 5. The hopper 5 comprises a rigid casing 13 forming a funnel for retaining and guiding the gravel towards a slot 18 for distributing gravel, extending on the front face 22 of the machine 1, transversely, in the lower part and over the entire width of the hopper 5. The casing 13 is formed from a front wall 14 supporting actuators 7, a rear wall 15 supporting means 9 forming a spacer for a bottom wall 16 inclined - in particular at 45° - towards the front and downwards in the extension of the rear wall 15 towards the front and two side walls 17 joining the side edges of the front wall 14, of the wall 15 rear and 16 bottom wall.
The front wall 14, the rear wall 15, the bottom wall 16 and the side walls 17 of the hopper 5 delimit an internal space 26 of the hopper 5 whose volume can vary from 250 L to 1000 L, in particular from 400 L to 800 L, in particular of the order of 500 L. The walls 14, 15, 16, 17 have upper edges defining an upper opening 27 adapted to allow the hopper 5 to be filled with gravel. In particular, such an opening 27 allows the hopper 5 to be filled by pouring gravel from a skip of a supply truck. The hopper 5 is mounted integral with at least one chassis and/or bodywork element 23 of the machine 1, suspended at the front 22 of the machine 1 and in front of a vertical plane tangent to the front surface of the compacting roller 2. Thus, the hopper 5 arranged at the front of the machine 1 is easily accessible for supplying it with gravel, for example by dumping it from a skip of a gravel supply vehicle.

Selon certains modes de réalisation particuliers, la trémie 5 présente trois roulements 10 -notamment alignés- régulièrement répartis sur toute la largeur de la paroi 15 arrière et de la trémie 5.According to certain embodiments, the spacer-forming means 9 comprise a plurality of bearings 10, in particular a plurality of bearings 10 regularly distributed over the entire width of the hopper 5. According to certain particular embodiments, the hopper 5 has two bearings 10 arranged symmetrically with respect to the sagittal plane of the machine 1 and of the hopper 5. According to certain particular embodiments, the hopper 5 has three bearings 10 - in particular aligned - regularly distributed over the entire width of the rear wall 15 and of the hopper 5.
The bottom wall 16, the front wall 14 and the side walls 17 of the casing provide in the casing 13, a slot 18 for distributing gravel extending transversely in the lower part of the hopper 5 and over the entire width of the hopper 5. The height of the slot 18 may depend on the grain size of the gravel to be deposited. In certain embodiments in which the average grain size of the gravel is between 2 mm and 4 mm (“rice grain”) and 6 mm and 10 mm (“gravel”), the height of the distribution slot 18 is between 20 mm and 100 mm, in particular between 30 mm and 70 mm, in particular of the order of 50 mm.

In certain advantageous embodiments, the motor vehicle 1 is provided with a device 8 for controlling each actuator 71, 72, 73, 74, 75 adapted to allow a driver of the motor vehicle 1 to move each flap 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 independently of one another or jointly with one another, between said distribution position and said closing position. The control device 8 is a remote control device comprising a selector member for one of the actuators or a group of actuators and a trigger member for the selected actuator or group of selected actuators.
In certain embodiments, nothing prevents the flaps 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from being tilt-and-turn flaps relative to a substantially horizontal oscillation axis, the tilt-and-turn flap(s) extending opposite the dispensing slot 18 and obstructing the latter in said position of closure of the flap(s), the flap(s) being raised relative to the dispensing slot 18 in said dispensing position.
The machine 1 comprises spacer-forming means 9 extending between the rear wall 15 of the hopper and the compacting roller 2. The spacer-forming means 9 advantageously comprise at least one bearing 10 mounted integral with the hopper 5 and the rear wall 15 of the hopper 5, and rotatable relative to the hopper 5 along an axis 11 of rotation parallel to the axis 3 of rotation of the compacting roller 2. The bearing 10 has a tread adapted to be in contact with the external surface of the compacting roller 2 and to allow the hopper 5 to be kept suspended from a chassis and/or bodywork element 23 during ground covering operations, including during operations during which the compacting roller 2 is driven in rotation. Thus, the spacing means 9 and the bearing(s) 10 make it possible to reduce the friction forces between the hopper 5 and the compacting roller 2, in particular because the hopper is mounted integral with the chassis in suspension relative to the chassis. The integrity of the structure of the hopper 5 is thus preserved.
