Definitions
- the invention relates to a dispenser for dispensing pharmaceutical liquids according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Dispensers of the generic type and of the present invention include an elongate housing aligned along a central axis. At the distal end of the housing there is a discharge opening which is aligned axially in the direction of the central axis and through which the liquid can be discharged into the environment, for example in the form of drops and a spray jet.
- a dispenser also includes a liquid reservoir and a control device with a pump or a switching valve, which is connected to the liquid reservoir by a first line and to the discharge opening by a second line and by means of which liquid can be routed from the liquid reservoir to the discharge opening.
- the dispenser For the purpose of actuation, the dispenser comprises an actuation button which is provided laterally in a recess in a lateral surface of the housing and which is connected to the control device in such a way that pressing the actuation button radially in the direction of the central axis actuates the control device so that liquid is directed to the discharge opening will.
- dispensers of the generic type which represent the starting point of the invention, are also referred to as side-actuation dispensers.
- this dispenser of the generic type and of the invention is that it is actuated from the side.
- the housing which is essentially rotationally symmetrical or cylindrical at least in the area of the lateral surface, has the aforementioned actuating button for this purpose, which can be pressed in the radial direction or with a predominant radial component in the direction of the central axis in order to direct liquid in the direction of the discharge opening. This can happen by the actuation trigger displacing the piston of a piston pump or compressing the bellows of a bellows pump or opening a valve so that previously pressurized liquid can flow in the direction of the discharge opening.
- the object of the invention is to provide a generic side-actuation dispenser with an effective and structurally simple child safety device.
- the dispenser comprises a rotating sleeve or sliding sleeve which is open on both sides and which is attached to the outside of the housing such that it can rotate or slide about the central axis.
- this sleeve prevents actuation of the actuating pushbutton and in a released rotary position or released sliding position, the sleeve allows the actuating pushbutton to be pressed in radially.
- a sleeve is provided that completely or almost completely (> 270°) surrounds the housing of the dispenser, at least in the area of the actuating pusher or at least does not have to be removed for the purpose of operation.
- This rotary sleeve is preferably secured in the axial direction on the housing, so that it can only be moved in rotation.
- the sliding sleeve proposed as an alternative can be moved to a limited extent relative to the housing in the axial direction. It can be non-rotatable or displaceable and rotatable relative to the housing.
- the rotating sleeve or the sliding sleeve is open on both sides in the manner of a tube, so that it can be pushed onto the housing, in particular from the side of the discharge opening. It is pushed on so far that the distal end of the housing and the discharge opening provided there protrudes beyond the rotary sleeve or sliding sleeve in the axial direction when pushed on, ie protrudes beyond the distal end of the rotary sleeve or sliding sleeve
- the actuating push button can be pressed or pressing is prevented and/or blocked.
- the locked rotary position or the locked sliding position actuation is not possible, either because the operating push-button is not accessible or because its movement is blocked mechanically.
- the release rotary position or release sliding position the actuating pusher is accessible and can be displaced radially for the purpose of dispensing liquid, so that the valve coupled thereto is opened or the pump connected thereto is actuated.
- the sleeve itself is open on both sides and therefore does not represent a cap covering the discharge opening.
- a dispenser can also have a cap which can be attached to the housing or the rotating sleeve and/or can cover the housing and the sleeve when fitted.
- the sleeve can have an actuating recess which, in the released position, is arranged on the outside of the actuating button and allows access to the actuating button.
- the sleeve can be shifted between a position (locked rotary position or locked/slide position), in which the actuation recess is not arranged over the actuating pushbutton and instead this is covered, and a position ( Release rotary position or release sliding position), in which the recess grants access to the operating handle.
- the sleeve is preferably a component surrounding the housing, which is either slimmer in the area of the actuation recess in relation to the axial direction or has a recess surrounded by the sleeve through which the actuation pushbutton is accessible when the sleeve is in the release position. It is also possible to interrupt the rotary sleeve in the area of the actuation recess.
- a pawl can be provided on the housing that can be deflected radially towards the central axis, by means of which the sleeve can be locked in at least one locked position, so that the pawl has to be deflected in order to turn the sleeve into the release position or to close it push.
- a pawl creates an additional obstacle for children.
- the preferably spring-loaded pawl In order to bring the sleeve into its release position, the preferably spring-loaded pawl must first be deflected so that it then allows the sleeve to be rotated or pushed.
- the pawl can in particular be formed by a section of the lateral surface of the housing, which must be pressed radially inward for the purpose of moving the sleeve.
- This is a very simple way in terms of manufacturing technology.
- the pawl is provided in its blocking position, so that the mentioned spring loading during operation results from the fact that the pawl is pressed radially inwards for the purpose of moving the sleeve and that Plastic component is thereby elastically deformed.
- the pawl In the locked state, the pawl interacts with the sleeve in a force-fitting manner or, in particular, in a form-fitting manner in order to make it more difficult or to prevent the sleeve from moving. In the case of a form-fitting design, the pawl engages in a recess, opening or the like on the sleeve in the secured state.
- the pawl can be arranged on the housing in such a way that, in the locked position, it protrudes into the actuation recess.
- the actuation recess thus fulfills two purposes in such a design: On the one hand, it enables the actuation pusher to be depressed when the sleeve is in the release position. On the other hand, it blocks the sleeve from moving in the locked position together with the pawl.
- the pawl can be firmly connected to the actuating pushbutton and, in the blocking position, protrude into a blocking recess in the sleeve which is separate from the actuating recess and which is arranged circumferentially or offset in the axial direction relative to the actuating recess.
- a section on the actuating pusher itself forms the pawl and, when the sleeve is in the locked position, engages in a second locking recess that is separate from the actuating recess.
- To release the actuating push button or the pawl provided on it must be pressed in slightly radially. Only then can the sleeve be rotated or moved so that actuation is then possible.
- the sleeve can have a recess into which the pawl protrudes in the secured state.
- it can have an extension which is shaped in such a way that, after the cap has been removed from the housing or from the sleeve, it can be inserted into the recess in such a way that the pawl can be deflected as a result and the sleeve can then be moved into the release position can be moved.
- the removable cap has an extension, for example in the form of a slim pin, which can be pushed into a corresponding recess in the sleeve in order to deflect the pawl.
- This recess has a size and/or a shape that does not allow the detent pawl to be deflected, at least without tools, ie just with the fingers of a child.
- a pawl on the housing side can be displaced.
- the sleeve and the housing can be rotated or Be provided translational locking surfaces that prevent movement of the sleeve relative to the housing in the locked position.
- the sleeve can be made of an elastically deformable plastic, which allows deformation, in particular oval deformation, of the sleeve by external application of force, by means of which the blocking surfaces can be disengaged, so that the sleeve can then be moved into the release is possible.
- the sleeve and the housing are matched to one another in such a way that, at least in the blocking position, there is a form-fitting prevention of a rotation or a sliding movement.
- the sleeve which in this case preferably completely encloses the housing, must first be deformed, in particular slightly oval-shaped by applying force on both sides, so that the engagement between the blocking surfaces on the housing and the sleeve is terminated. The sleeve can then be moved.
- the release position is secured by the blocking surfaces.
- Especially Designs are advantageous in which the blocking surfaces are formed on radial depressions or elevations on the housing side and sleeve side.
- the actuating pushbutton and the housing are provided with interacting fixing elements which allow the actuating pushbutton to be fixed in a fixing position relative to the housing in a radially acting manner.
- child safety is not achieved or not only by the child not being able to access the discharge opening or the actuation button, but rather by the immobility of the actuation button provided for radial displacement relative to the housing.
- the fixing elements can be designed to fix the actuating push button in the pushed-in state. Fixation in the depressed state makes it difficult to break the fixation by force. It is more difficult to forcibly pull out an actuating button that has been recessed in the lateral surface than to push it in.
- the fixing elements can be designed to snap in automatically, so that a movement of the actuating pushbutton radially outwards or radially inwards causes the actuating pushbutton to be fixed.
- the automatic locking ensures that this form of security is not forgotten.
- a discharge effected by depressing the actuating pusher but the secured state is also established at the same time.
- a pressure point has to be overcome before the automatic latching, so that a partial stroke for discharging and a full stroke for discharging and fixing the actuating pusher can be haptically differentiated.
- the fixing element in particular that on the side of the actuating pusher, can be displaceable transversely to the radial direction for producing and releasing the fixing layer.
- the fixing element can be provided in particular on a tilting element which has a release surface for manual application of force, by means of which the tilting element can be moved, so that this fixing element can be disengaged from the other fixing element, in particular the one on the housing side.
- the displaceable fixing element can thus be displaced transversely to the radial direction relative to the actuating surface of the actuating pusher, for example parallel to the axial direction of the central axis.
- the configuration with the aforementioned tilting element, which has both the fixing element and a release surface, is advantageous.
- Such a rocking element allows the force application direction for releasing to result in an opposite displacement of the fixing element, which then releases the fixed state.
- one of the fixing elements is designed in the manner of a slide, which can be displaced relative to the housing between the fixing position and a release position.
- This slide and the actuating pushbutton are designed for positive interaction in the fixing position, with a recess or opening being provided on the actuating pushbutton for this purpose, in which the slide engages in its fixing position and from which the slide is pulled out in its release position.
- two elements are provided that can be moved by the user relative to the housing, namely the actuating pusher on the one hand and the aforementioned slide on the other, with preferably different openings being provided in the housing for handling both elements.
- the slide can be displaced independently of the actuating button and, in an end position, prevents the movement, in particular the pressing in, of the actuating button.
- a child must therefore first move the slider in order to then be able to dispense liquid by pressing the actuating button.
- Safety against this can be increased by a deliberately stiff slider.
- the shape of the slider, the housing and/or the actuating button can be designed in such a way that the slider can only be displaced in relation to the housing after it has been pressed in, or that the actuating button has to be pressed in slightly in order to then be disengaged from the actuating button be able.
- the housing has at least one opening opposite the recess in the lateral surface in which the actuating pushbutton is arranged.
- the actuating pushbutton is coupled to at least one extension, which is pushed out of the housing through the opening when the actuating pushbutton is pressed in, or at least one locking part that can be detached from the housing or moved relative to the housing is provided, which in a locking position can be pushed through the opening by means of an extension protrudes into the housing and prevents the actuating button from being depressed.
- the mobility of the actuating pushbutton is influenced by an opening circumferentially opposite the recess in the lateral surface.
- the actuating push button can be provided with an extension, which can also be a one-piece part of the actuating push button and which is pressed outwards through the opening on the opposite side when the actuating push button is pressed down.
- an adult on the other hand, could deliberately grasp the dispenser in such a way that it does not cover the openings and thus does not prevent the extension from emerging.
- the said blocking part can also be provided, which protrudes through the openings into the interior of the housing and there prevents the movement of the actuating pushbutton. Depressing is then only possible after removal or relocation of the blocking part.
- a blocking part which covers the openings without encroaching on them by means of extensions.
- the extensions then provided on the side of the actuating pusher cannot emerge due to this blocking part and thus prevent actuation.
- Said blocking part can only serve the purpose of blocking. However, it could also represent a cap at the same time, which at least partially covers the discharge opening.
- the locking part can be designed as a removable locking part and can be adapted to the housing in such a way that it can be fastened to the housing in a radial direction.
- the blocking part can have a shell shape adapted to the outer contour of the housing, which in the fastened state surrounds the housing over an angle of more than 180° and has an inner side on which at least one extension is provided.
- a locking part can be placed radially from the side or pushed on axially. Because it surrounds the housing at an angle of >180°, it holds onto it and preferably forms a clamped connection with it.
- the dispenser includes a receiving sleeve, the inner volume of which is adapted to the outer shape of the housing in such a way that the housing together with the liquid reservoir can be completely accommodated therein.
- the inner wall of the receiving sleeve and the outer surfaces of the housing are matched to one another in such a way that they positively counteract the housing being pulled out.
- the receiving sleeve has a lateral recess through which the housing can be pushed against the non-positive fit in the direction of an open end of the receiving sleeve. Configurations with several such lateral recesses in a lateral surface of the receiving sleeve are also conceivable.
- the child safety device is produced in that the dispenser is received as a whole in the receiving sleeve, so that it does not have any parts protruding from the receiving sleeve that would allow it to be pulled out. Instead, force must be applied to the housing through the lateral recess in order to push it out at the open end of the receiving sleeve. It has been shown that understanding this and overcoming the adhesion is difficult for children to master.
- the receiving sleeve and the housing can be matched to one another in such a way that the housing can only be pushed in in a rotational position in which the actuating pushbutton and the recess are offset relative to one another in the circumferential direction.
- the receiving sleeve and the housing can be matched to one another in such a way that the housing can only be pushed in in a rotational position in which the actuating pushbutton and the recess are arranged in the circumferential direction in the same way.
- the opposite design can also be advantageous, since greater skill is required to bring about the sliding out of the housing, although the actuating push-button is accessible and depressible through the cut-out.
- FIG. 1 shows a so-called side-actuation dispenser 10.
- This has a housing 20 with a discharge assembly 22 and a reservoir 30, which is coupled in the region of a coupling ring 28 of the discharge assembly 22 and includes a liquid reservoir 32.
- the discharge assembly 22 has a discharge opening 24 at the end of an applicator tip 25 designed as a nasal olive and an approximately cylindrical and largely rotationally symmetrical lateral surface 23 between the nasal olive and the coupling ring 28.
- a recess 26 is provided in which an actuating button 50 is arranged. This actuating pusher 50 can be pressed in the direction of the arrow 4, this direction forming approximately a right angle with the central axis 2 of the dispenser, which coincides with the dispensing direction at the dispensing opening 24.
- the invention is a child safety device for a dispenser of the type 1 to provide.
- the inner components in the area of the discharge assembly 22 are examples based on FIG 2 explained, but are identical for all embodiments.
- the liquid reservoir 32 is connected to a pump 54 via a line 51 .
- This pump 54 has a movable cylinder 55 which can be pushed in together with the actuating pusher 50 .
- the pump 54 also has a valve arrangement 57, not described in detail, which draws in liquid through the line 51 when the pressure in the pump cylinder 55 is negative and which, when there is an overpressure in the pump cylinder 55, presses liquid in the direction of a second line 52, which in turn leads to the discharge opening with the interposition of an outlet valve 25a 24 leads.
- the first embodiment of Figures 2 to 5 for producing a child safety device has a rotary sleeve 60 which is attached to the outer surface 23 of the housing 20 on the outside.
- a catch 61 ensures that this rotary sleeve 60 can only be rotated, but cannot be easily removed from the housing 20 .
- the rotary sleeve 60 has an actuation recess 62, which has approximately the size of the outside of the actuating pusher 50. In the locked position of 2 and the 3 this actuation recess 62 is offset by 180° with respect to the actuation button 50, so that the actuation button 50 is covered by the rotating sleeve 60 and is not accessible.
- Rotating the rotary sleeve 60 is not immediately possible, since the lateral surface 23 of the housing 20 in particular from 2 is provided with a bulge acting as a pawl 23a, which protrudes into the actuation recess 62. If dispenser 10 is to be actuated from this state, it must first be in the position indicated by arrow 3 in 4 illustrated way the pawl 23a are pressed radially inward. Only then can the rotating sleeve 60 be rotated by 180°, so that the state of the figure 5 sets, in which the actuating recess 62 of the rotary sleeve 60 grants access to the actuating pusher 50. Starting from this state, the dispenser can now be used as intended. The actuating sleeve 60 is then rotated again by 180°, so that the pawl 23a, which is held under tension during the actuation, jumps back into the actuation recess 62.
- a rotatable rotary sleeve 60 is also provided, which is rotatable about the central axis 2 relative to a lateral surface 23 and an actuating pusher 50 . This can also be brought into a rotational position in which the actuation recess 62 is not arranged above the actuation pusher 50 and therefore prevents actuation.
- Blocking webs 62 are provided on the inside of the rotary sleeve 60 offset by 180° relative to one another.
- 20 recesses 33 are provided in the lateral surface 23 of the housing. Both the blocking webs 63 and the depressions 33 are laterally delimited in the circumferential direction by rotation blocking surfaces 34, 64.
- the rotating sleeve 60 is here made of a sufficiently deformable plastic, so that a force application in the direction of the arrows 5 is suitable to lift the blocking webs 62 offset by 90° out of the respective depressions 33 .
- the desired rotation of the rotary sleeve 60 relative to the lateral surface 23 can then take place and the actuating recess 62 can thus be brought into a rotary position in which it allows the actuating pushbutton 50 to be actuated.
- the blocking ribs 63 and the depressions 33 prevent rotation both in the position of the rotary sleeve in which it covers the actuating pushbutton 50 and in that rotary position in which actuation through the actuating recess 62 is possible.
- the child safety device is formed by the actuation button 50 itself.
- the actuating pushbutton 50 has a tilting element 59 which is an integral part of the actuating pushbutton 50 but can be pivoted about a pivot axis 7 in relation to it.
- a fixing element 58 is provided on this tilting element 59, which snaps behind a corresponding fixing edge 27 of the housing when the actuating button 50 is pressed in and thus secures the actuating button in the pressed state.
- a release can only be achieved by applying force in the direction of arrow 8 to a release surface 59a of the tilting element 59, which causes the actuating pusher 50 to automatically jump into its radially outer end position, from where it actuates again can be.
- this design of a child safety device can be combined with other child safety features via the design of the actuating pushbutton 50, such as are described in this application with regard to a rotating sleeve or a cap. It is also possible to use several of the tilting elements 58 described on different sides of the actuating pushbutton.
- an opening 21 is provided on the side of the lateral surface 23 opposite the recess 26 for the actuating pusher 50 .
- the actuating button is provided with at least one extension 53 which protrudes into this opening 21 and is pressed out here in the event of an actuation of the actuating button.
- FIG. 12 A design related to this is in the Figures 12 to 14 pictured.
- openings 21 are provided on the side opposite the recess 26 .
- a fuse shell 90 is provided, which 14 is shown separately.
- This fuse shell 90 has extensions 91 on the inside, which are adapted to the openings 21 in the housing 20 in terms of shape. If the shell 90 in the in 13 shown manner is clipped to the housing, prevent these extensions 91 that the actuating pusher 50 can be depressed. For a child, who would naturally hold the dispenser in the area of the safety shell 90, it is difficult to understand why this prevents the actuating button 50 from being depressed.
- a receiving sleeve 94 adapted to the housing 20 of the dispenser is provided.
- this receiving sleeve 94 is made sufficiently large so that the housing 20 can be completely received therein when inserted through an open side 94a.
- the housing 20 is held in the receiving sleeve in a non-positive manner, this being made possible in the present case by a clamping ring 98 which bears against the outside of the reservoir 30 .
- the housing is pushed through side recesses 96 towards open end 94a and thus retrieved therefrom.
- Such a sequence of movements, in which the housing 20 is envisaged to be pushed out, has turned out to be difficult for children to achieve.
- FIGS 17 and 18 show a variant of the donor of the Figures 2 to 5 .
- This dispenser also has a sleeve 60 which is pushed onto the housing 22 and which can be moved to a limited extent relative to the housing 60 but cannot be removed.
- the sleeve 60 of this embodiment is not rotatable, but between the two end positions of the 17 and 18 translationally relocatable.
- the operating button 50 of the dispenser is not accessible because it is covered by the sliding sleeve 60.
- the sliding sleeve 60 cannot be moved directly, since it is locked by the pawl 23a, which protrudes into the recess 62 of the sliding sleeve 60.
- the pawl 23a In order to be able to use the dispenser, the pawl 23a must first be pressed in. Only then is it possible to move the sleeve 60 so that it changes the position of the 18 takes. In this position, the actuating pusher 50 can now be pressed in radially through the recess 62 and discharge can thus be effected.
- the donor according to 19 and 20 as well as 21A and 21B is a dispenser with a child safety, which is not implemented via a cap, but could also be additionally.
- the child safety device is similar to the design of the Figures 8 and 9 is effected by a lockability of the actuating pusher 50.
- a second recess 66 is provided in the housing 20 next to the recess 26 for the actuating pushbutton 50, through which a blocking element 68, which can be displaced orthogonally to the actuating pushbutton, can be subjected to a force by means of a force application surface 68A.
- This blocking element 68 has a distal end 68B, to which a recess 50A is provided in a side wall of the actuating pusher 50, corresponding thereto. The blocking element 68 can engage in this.
- FIGS. 21A and 21B show the released and the locked state of the blocking element 68.
- the blocking element is displaced upwards in relation to the figures, whereby it is displaced slightly radially against the force of a spring element 69 by means of a bevel 68C in the area of a housing edge.
- this spring element causes the hook-shaped distal end 68B to be snapped into this recess 50A in such a way that a child-proof condition is then achieved.
- the operating button 50 cannot be depressed and thus no liquid can be discharged.
- the blocking element In order to return from this state to the released state, the blocking element must be pressed in against the force of the spring element 69, so that the said snap-fit is released. Only then can the blocking element 68 be pulled back so that it releases the actuating pusher 50 .
- the distal end 68B may have a hook-like configuration which, unlike the above, is oriented to the right such that movement of the blocking element to the released position is only possible once the actuating trigger has been depressed a little.
- the mobility of the blocking element 68 relative to the housing can also be configured differently.
- a rotatable or pivotable blocking element is suitable for making release even more difficult for small children.
