- Such equipment is for example intended for law enforcement or security officers for example.
- Such equipment must be able to protect the user against violent shocks, possibly carried by heavy objects, for example during demonstrations or clashes.
- the equipment is worn around the upper body, usually accompanied by a helmet to protect the user's head.
- the vests of this type known are generally made in several parts permanently attached to each other and slip through the head as a chasuble or as a jacket.
- This type of equipment should be worn closer to the body to allow great freedom of movement to the user and not to interfere in its maneuvers.
- this type of equipment is usually pooled in a barracks so that it can be worn by different people of different build.
- it is intended to allow adjustment of the tightening of the equipment to adjust to the build of the person who wears it and possibly to facilitate its introduction and withdrawal by loosening the equipment.
- each side portion is formed by two flaps, one of which is integral with the dorsal portion and the other is integral with the front portion, and provided with self-gripping means for securing a fastener. removable from one flap to the other in different positions.
- the flaps overlap in part so as not to expose the user to the ribs, regardless of its size, for better protection on a part of contact between the flaps.
- the shutters are fixed in a fastening zone generally leaving a portion of the free cover flap to provide a range of adjustment of the tightening of the vest by varying the location of the fastening area relative to the free portion.
- the larger the free part the closer the vest is.
- This free part is “flying” and is likely to fold on itself or against the dorsal part. This happens, for example, when the user quickly puts on the vest, in an emergency situation.
- the vest is not in its optimal state of use and leaves part of the side of the user with a protection reduced or nonexistent.
- This folding also causes discomfort to the user, making the vest less comfortable.
- One of the aims of the invention is to overcome these disadvantages by providing protective equipment to ensure better attachment of the side flaps, to optimize the protection offered by the vest.
- the invention relates to a protective equipment of the aforementioned type, comprising at least one elastic internal strap fixed on the one hand to one of the flaps and on the other hand to the contact part of the other component and it comprises a passer extending over the contact portion of one of the flaps, the other flap being engaged in said passer.
- the term “external” is defined by what is turned outwardly of the protective equipment, that is to say opposite the part of the body carrying the equipment, and the term “internal” by what is turned inward of the equipment, that is to say towards the part of the body carrying the equipment.
- the term “front” refers to what is turned to the torso of the user of the equipment and the term “back” which is turned to the back of it when the equipment is worn.
- a protective equipment of the type bumpers 1 for the security forces or for security agents or other.
- the protective equipment will simply be called “vest" 1.
- the vest 1 is intended to cover at least the torso and the back and / or the abdomen of the user, as shown on the Fig. 1 and 2 .
- the vest 1 essentially comprises a front part 2 and 4, formed of two front panels 2 and 4, or front parts 2 and 4, a dorsal part 6 ( Fig. 2 ), the front portions 2 and 4 being connected to the dorsal portion 6 each by a strap 8 intended to cover a shoulder of the user.
- the vest 1 comprises only a front portion covering the abdomen and / or the torso of the user and connected to the dorsal part by two shoulder straps extending on either side of the parts. dorsal and frontal so as to define a passage for the user's head between the shoulder straps. In the following description, will be described more particularly the vest 1 comprising two front portions 2 and 4.
- the front portions 2 and 4 are connected to the dorsal portion 6 by lateral flaps, defining with the straps 8 openings 10 for the passage of the arms of the user.
- the dorsal portion 6 comprises two rear lateral flaps 12 extending on either side of the dorsal portion 6 and being spaced from the shoulder straps 8. The rear lateral flaps 12 thus extend towards the front portions 2 and 4 the user's ribs so as to cover a portion of the sidewalls thereof, as shown in FIG. Fig. 2 .
- Each front portion 2, 4 comprises a front side panel 14 spaced apart from a strap 8 and extending towards the dorsal portion.
- Each front side flap 14 thus also extends at one of the sidewalls of the user, so that each side flap before 14 can be superimposed on or below at least a portion of a rear side flap 12, as is more particularly visible on the Fig. 2 .
- the front side flaps 14 and the rear side flaps 12 are provided with reciprocal fixing means, making it possible to fix together a front lateral flap 14 and a rear lateral flap 12 on each side of the vest 1 and thus to secure the front portions 2 and 4 together. at the back portion 6 at the size of a user, as will be described later.
- the flaps When the flaps are superimposed, their upper edge defines, with the lower edge of the shoulder straps 8 and the edges of the front and back portions, the openings 10 for the passage of arms.
- this portion In the case where the vest 1 comprises only one front portion, this portion carries the two front side flaps 14 on either side of the front portion.
- Each of the parts mentioned above comprises one or more protective panels, each panel being provided with at least one mattress of elastically compressible material, for example a foam or an elastomeric material, for example obtained by injection or molding.
- a plate of rigid material is disposed in front of the mattress, towards the outside of the vest 1.
- the plate may be substantially flat or be shaped to fit the shape of the part of the body that it covers, in order to be ergonomic and thus improving the comfort of the panel while facilitating the freedom of movement of the user.
- Such a plate allows a good distribution of energy when an impact is applied to it, as well as the absorption of a portion of this energy, the absorption then being made by the mattress.
- the mattress and the plate are for example coated with a fabric adapted for the field of protective equipment. The production of such panels is known per se and will not be described in more detail here.
- Each protective panel because of its structure, is able to absorb at least a portion of the energy due to impact, including shocks due to blows carried by a third with bare hands or with an object or projectiles launched by a third party, in order to protect the user wearing the equipment, while allowing him to move freely.
- each panel or of some of them may possibly be doubled by one or more textile materials adapted for the absorption and / or evacuation of the sweat of the user, as represented by the reference 16 of the Fig. 4 and the ventilation of the vest 1 in order to improve its comfort, for example a so-called "breathable" textile material.
- the vest 1 further comprises panels for protecting a portion of the arms 18 fixed, for example removably, to the shoulder straps 8 covering the shoulders.
- Each arm protection panel 18 thus extends above a passage 10 for the arms so as to cover part of the arms of the user.
- the protective panels of the arms 18 are for example provided with straps 20, or others, for fixing and tightening the arms of the user.
- the shoulder straps 8 and the arm protection panels 18 are reinforced by shells 22 of rigid material, such as polycarbonate for example, extending on the outside of the strap 8 and panel 18 to improve the protection of the user wearing the vest 1.
- shells 22 are known and have the general shape of the body part they protect.
- the outer face of the shells 22 is shaped in a known manner for shock absorption during clashes.
- the conformation is adapted to the part of the body intended to be protected and comprises, for example, protuberances extending on either side of the recesses intended to improve the behavior of the shells 22 in the event of an impact.
- Each strap 8 and panel 18 may be reinforced by a shell 22, the adjacent shells being for example hinged together.
- the panels 18 may be fixed permanently or removably straps they cover, for example by sewing or by self-gripping means or other.
- the front portions 2 and 4 are provided with removable fixing means 24 for fixing the front portions 2 and 4 to one another, when the vest 1 has been threaded.
- removable fastening means is meant that the front parts can be fixed to one another or detached from each other by cooperating or not the means for fixing the parts between them.
- the fastening means 24 are formed by a slide fastener 26, the rails 28 of which are respectively fixed to one of the front portions 2 and 4.
- a slider 30 is movable on the rails 28 so as to attach to one another or separate them from each other.
- the slider 30 and the rails 28 have been represented in the closed position on the Fig. 1 .
- the rails 28 are for example sewn on the end portions 32 of the front portions 2 and 4 facing each other when the vest 1 is closed, that is to say the end portions located at the end. opposite passages 10 for the arms.
- a flap may be provided to cover the zipper 26 when it is closed in order to prevent a third party from being able to grasp the slider 30 for example, or in order to increase the protection at the right of the slide 26.
- a flap extends for example over the entire length of the slide and is fixed permanently, for example by sewing, on one side thereof and removably, for example by self-gripping means on the other side of the slide.
- the removable fastening means 24 for fixing or not the front portions 2 and 4 to each other may be of a different nature from the slide fastener 26 described above.
- the removable fastening means 24 could be for example snaps or strips of self-gripping tape, or a combination of these different means.
- the vest 1 described above can be donned like a coat.
- the front parts in the open position the user passes an arm then the other through the arm passages 10 to thread the vest 1 then actuates the removable fastening means 22 to close the vest 1 and maintain the frontal parts 2 and 4 against his abdomen.
- the vest 1 is particularly simple and quick to put on.
- the vest includes only a front part, it is donned in the manner of a chasuble.
- the vest 1 When the vest 1 is closed and the protections of the arms attached, the user is protected at the level of his back, his abdomen, his shoulders, his ribs and part of his arms.
- a pectoral protection panel 34 may optionally be further detachably fastened to the inside of the vest 1 in order to offer additional protection facing the removable fastening means 24 of the front portions 2 and 4.
- a pelvic panel 36 may also be be removably attached to the lower end of the pectoral panel 34.
- one or both front portions 2 and 4 and / or the back portion 6 may be provided with removable attachment means on the outer face of these portions of at least one additional protective insert (not shown ).
- the removable attachment means are for example formed by one or more self-gripping tape or other means.
- the additional protection elements may be additional protective panels, such as those forming the different parts of the vest 1 and / or additional ballistic protections, or others.
- the inner face of the front and / or back portions may be provided with means for removably attaching at least one additional protective insert, such as a collar 38 for protecting the neck and neck of the user. .
- the back portion and / or the side portions and / or the front portions may for example be equipped with one or more receiving pockets of an additional protective panel.
- This additional protection panel may have different characteristics of the protection panels described above to allow to modulate the protection offered by the vest 1, depending on whether these additional panels are arranged in the pockets or not.
- the vest 1 thus offers the user a graduated protection according to the type of threat, the user can easily add or remove additional protective panels inside and / or outside the vest.
- the vest 1 further allows an adjustment of the tightening of the vest 1 around the body of the user by providing a tightening means for fastening the flaps 12 and 14 described above.
- the means for attaching a rear lateral flap 12 with a front lateral flap 14 the means of fixing the other rear lateral flap 12 with the other front lateral flap 14 are identical.
- the fixing means are formed by at least one external strap 40 fastened to at least one fastening point 42 provided on one of the flaps and engaged in at least one guide 44 provided on the other rear lateral flap 12.
- the outer strap 40 is for example formed by a strip of solid textile material capable of withstanding high tensile forces.
- the attachment point 42 is formed by a loop and is provided on the front side flap 14.
- the outer strap 40 could also be fixed for example by sewing or otherwise on the flap.
- the attachment point 42 will be described as a loop 42. However, it is understood that it could be formed by other means, as described above.
- the front side flap 14 extends above the rear side flap 12 when superimposed.
- the front lateral flap 14 is therefore considered as an outer flap and the rear lateral flap 12 is considered as an inner flap.
- the front lateral flap 14 comprises a front passer 42 and a rear passer 46 for an external strap 40, the front passer 42 extending in the vicinity of the front portion 2 or 4 and the rear passer 46 extending in the vicinity of the edge the front side flap 14 superimposed with the rear side flap 12.
- the outer strap 40 is held by one of its ends 48 to the front guide 42 and extends rearwardly so as to pass through the rear flange 46.
- the holding end 48 of the outer strap 40 in the front loop 42 is for example provided by a stop member (not shown) engaged behind the passer before 42 and holding the outer strap 40 when it is pulled back.
- the rear runner 46 forms a rear attachment point of the outer strap 40 on the front side flap 14 provided in the vicinity of the rear edge of the front side flap 14, and it is understood that this rear passer 46 could be replaced by other means attaching the outer strap 40, such as a stitch or the like.
- the advantage of providing loops 42 and 46 to form the fastening points on the front side flap 14 is that the outer strap 40 is not fixed permanently on the front side flap 14 and can therefore be removed from the flap by example to be changed if it has been damaged or worn out.
- the outer strap 40 is then engaged in the passage 44 of the rear side flap 12, as shown on the outer strap 40 of the bottom on the Fig. 3 and 4 .
- the loop 44 is fixed in the vicinity of the transition between the dorsal portion 6 and the rear lateral flap 12, either on the rear lateral flap or on the dorsal portion 6.
- the loop 44 forms a return element of the outer strap 40, of which the free end portion 50 folds forward, after passing through the passage 44, the portion of the outer strap 40 extending between the front and rear loops 42 and 46 of the front side flap 14, as shown by the outer strap 40 from the top on the Fig. 3 and 4 .
- the free end portion 50 thus extends from the rear side flap 12 to the front side flap 14 when engaged in the passage 44.
- the end portion 50 is provided with removable fastening means 52 on the part of the outer strap 40 extending between the front and rear loops 42 and 46 of the front side flap 14.
- These fixing means 52 are for example formed by strips of self-gripping tape 54 and 56, provided on the inner face of the end portion 50 of the strap and on the outer face of the portion of the strap extending between the loops 42 and 46.
- Such fastening means 52 allow to fix the end portion 50 in a plurality of clamping position and to prevent this part from hanging freely of the vest 1, which could be inconvenient for the user or form a gripping zone by which a third could pull on the vest 1.
- the fastening means 52 could be formed by snaps or aut re.
- the vest is worn and when the outer strap 40 is engaged in the loops 42, 44 and 46, a pull on the end portion 50 of the outer strap 40 allows to tighten the vest 1 tending to bring the passer 44 the rear side flap of the front guide 42 of the front side flap 14.
- a pull on the end portion 50 of the outer strap 40 allows to tighten the vest 1 tending to bring the passer 44 the rear side flap of the front guide 42 of the front side flap 14.
- the tightening adjustment of the vest is particularly simple and ergonomic.
- the clamping can be performed simultaneously on both sides of the vest 1, which ensures a good balance of this tightening and optimal use of the equipment.
- each pair of lateral flaps 12 and 14 is fixed by means of two external straps 40 spaced in height on the lateral flaps 12 and 14 in order to distribute the clamping forces over the entire height of the flanges.
- side flaps 12 and 14 The tightening is then effected by first tightening the two straps on both sides of the vest at the same height and the two other straps at a different height, to maintain the balance of tightening in simultaneously squeezing the vest on both sides.
- the outer straps 40 can also be masked and made inaccessible from outside the vest 1 so that a third can not grasp them.
- the front side flap 14 comprises a flap 58 arranged to cover the outer straps 40 when it is pressed against the front side flap 14, as shown in FIG. Fig. 2 .
- the flap 58 is provided with removable fastening means 60 on the flap on which it is provided.
- These fixing means 60 are for example formed by strips of self-gripping tape 62 and 64, provided on the inner face of the flap 58 and on the outer face of the flap on which the flap 58 is provided.
- the distribution of the self-adhesive tapes gripper is arranged so that the entire flap 58 is held against the flap on which it is intended to limit the catch for a third.
- Other removable attachment means could be provided, such as snaps or the like.
- the external fastening of the flaps could be achieved by simple strips of self-gripping material extending on the outer face of the rear flap and on the inner face of the front flap instead of the outer straps.
- a strap attachment provides more safety for the user and extends the life of the vest.
- the cover of the front side flap 14 on the rear side flap 12 defines two contact parts, a contact portion belonging to the outer face of the rear side flap 12 and a contact portion of the front side flap 14 belonging to the inner face of the flap. front side 14. These two parts of contact are facing each other, when the vest is worn by a user.
- An elastic internal strap 66 is fixed, on the one hand, for example to the inner face of the front lateral flap 14, and on the other hand to the rear lateral flap 12, for example on its outer face, its end or on its internal face. .
- This elastic internal strap 66 maintains the "flying" portion of the rear side flap 12 on the front side flap 14, that is to say the portion of the inner flap covered by the outer flap without being fixed directly thereto.
- the elastic internal strap 66 comprises, in one embodiment, at its end intended to be fixed on the internal face of the front part, a self-gripping tape 68 operating in conjunction with a self-gripping tape 70 belonging to the inner face. of the front part 2.
- the other end is for example fixed permanently on the inner flap, for example by stitching.
- These self-gripping means 68, 70 make the elastic strap 66 removable at one of its ends while leaving it adjustable, in case of change of the adjustment of the external straps 40. This type of adjustment occurs for example in case of change of user of the vest.
- the self-gripping tape 70 extends for example from the front to the rear from the vicinity of the end portion 32 of the front portion 2 to the outer flap so as to form an extended attachment area allowing to fix the internal strap 66 in various places of the internal face of the front part.
- a loop 72 may be fixed on the inner face of the front flap 14, the other rear lateral flap 12 being able to engage inside said passer 72.
- This passer 72 extends over the contact part. of the front flap 14 and is for example a band sewn at the upper and lower ends of the front side flap 14. It then forms, with the rear side flap 12, a passage opening large enough for the rear side flap 12 to pass through. inside.
- the rear side flap 12 is then held at the front side flap 14 by two means, on the one hand the elastic internal strap 66 and secondly the loop 72, which reinforces the maintenance of the two flaps together.
- the vest 1 described above thus allows a better attachment of the side flaps, while leaving the adjustable tightening for example by using the external straps 40.
- the elasticity of the internal strap 66 allows to tighten or loosen the vest by the outside without having to undo the internal fixation. This method of attachment makes it possible to retain the flying part of the inner flap and to prevent this part of the inner flap from folding on itself or against the dorsal part.
- the donning time of the vest by the user is thus reduced compared to a vest of the state of the art and allows the vest to do without a ventral belt impractical.
- the inner flap has been described as the rear flap and the outer flap as the front flap. However, it is understood that the inner flap could be formed by the front flap and that the outer flap could be formed by the rear flap.

Such equipment must be able to protect the user against violent shocks, possibly carried by heavy objects, for example during demonstrations or clashes.
The equipment is worn around the upper body, usually accompanied by a helmet to protect the user's head.
The vests of this type known are generally made in several parts permanently attached to each other and slip through the head as a chasuble or as a jacket.
This type of equipment should be worn closer to the body to allow great freedom of movement to the user and not to interfere in its maneuvers. In addition, this type of equipment is usually pooled in a barracks so that it can be worn by different people of different build. Thus, it is intended to allow adjustment of the tightening of the equipment to adjust to the build of the person who wears it and possibly to facilitate its introduction and withdrawal by loosening the equipment.
In particular, it is possible to adjust the tightening of the equipment at the user's side, on the lateral parts of the equipment, which extend under the arm passages of the latter. For this purpose, it is expected that each side portion is formed by two flaps, one of which is integral with the dorsal portion and the other is integral with the front portion, and provided with self-gripping means for securing a fastener. removable from one flap to the other in different positions. By adjusting the position of one flap relative to the other, it is possible to more or less bring the dorsal part of the front part together and thus adjust the tightening of the equipment around the torso of the user.
Most often, the flaps overlap in part so as not to expose the user to the ribs, regardless of its size, for better protection on a part of contact between the flaps.
The shutters are fixed in a fastening zone generally leaving a portion of the free cover flap to provide a range of adjustment of the tightening of the vest by varying the location of the fastening area relative to the free portion. Thus, the larger the free part, the closer the vest is.
This free part is "flying" and is likely to fold on itself or against the dorsal part. This happens, for example, when the user quickly puts on the vest, in an emergency situation.
The vest is not in its optimal state of use and leaves part of the side of the user with a protection reduced or nonexistent.
This folding also causes discomfort to the user, making the vest less comfortable.
To overcome this drawback, it has been proposed a ventral belt whose closure is provided by self-gripping tape connecting the inner flaps between them. This belt must be fixed by the user, passing it around his belly.
However, the two ends of this type of lap belt are often misplaced and inaccessible and the Velcro ribbons are likely to catch on other parts of the vest, which lengthens the time of installation of the vest and is not compatible with rapid donning, for example in case of emergency.
One of the aims of the invention is to overcome these disadvantages by providing protective equipment to ensure better attachment of the side flaps, to optimize the protection offered by the vest.
To this end, the invention relates to a protective equipment of the aforementioned type, comprising at least one elastic internal strap fixed on the one hand to one of the flaps and on the other hand to the contact part of the other component and it comprises a passer extending over the contact portion of one of the flaps, the other flap being engaged in said passer.
By proposing to maintain the integral side flaps by means of an elastic strap, the adjustment of one flap relative to the other is not impeded. Once the adjustments are made, the elastic strap maintains the contact portion of the inner flap relative to the outer flap, which prevents the inner flap from bending inside the vest.

The front side flaps 14 and the rear side flaps 12 are provided with reciprocal fixing means, making it possible to fix together a front
When the flaps are superimposed, their upper edge defines, with the lower edge of the
Each of the parts mentioned above comprises one or more protective panels, each panel being provided with at least one mattress of elastically compressible material, for example a foam or an elastomeric material, for example obtained by injection or molding. A plate of rigid material is disposed in front of the mattress, towards the outside of the vest 1. The plate may be substantially flat or be shaped to fit the shape of the part of the body that it covers, in order to be ergonomic and thus improving the comfort of the panel while facilitating the freedom of movement of the user. Such a plate allows a good distribution of energy when an impact is applied to it, as well as the absorption of a portion of this energy, the absorption then being made by the mattress. The mattress and the plate are for example coated with a fabric adapted for the field of protective equipment. The production of such panels is known per se and will not be described in more detail here.
Each protective panel, because of its structure, is able to absorb at least a portion of the energy due to impact, including shocks due to blows carried by a third with bare hands or with an object or projectiles launched by a third party, in order to protect the user wearing the equipment, while allowing him to move freely.
With the exception of the
The vest 1 further comprises panels for protecting a portion of the
According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the
The
The
The removable fastening means 24 for fixing or not the
The vest 1 described above can be donned like a coat. The front parts in the open position, the user passes an arm then the other through the
When the vest 1 is closed and the protections of the arms attached, the user is protected at the level of his back, his abdomen, his shoulders, his ribs and part of his arms.
According to one embodiment, one or both
Similarly, the inner face of the front and / or back portions may be provided with means for removably attaching at least one additional protective insert, such as a
Thus, the back portion and / or the side portions and / or the front portions may for example be equipped with one or more receiving pockets of an additional protective panel. This additional protection panel may have different characteristics of the protection panels described above to allow to modulate the protection offered by the vest 1, depending on whether these additional panels are arranged in the pockets or not.
The vest 1 thus offers the user a graduated protection according to the type of threat, the user can easily add or remove additional protective panels inside and / or outside the vest.
The vest 1 further allows an adjustment of the tightening of the vest 1 around the body of the user by providing a tightening means for fastening the

The fixing means are formed by at least one
The
According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the
In the embodiment shown in the figures, the
In the remainder of the description, the front
It is therefore understood that the vest is worn and when the
According to the embodiment shown in the figures, each pair of
The embodiments described above are only examples. Changes could be made. Thus, one could provide more than two straps on each side of the vest or more passers by strap. It could also be provided that the front side flap is disposed below the rear side flap, in which case the position of the loops would be reversed and the flap would be provided on the rear side flap. It could also be provided that the clamping is done from the front to the rear and not from the rear towards the front, by providing that the passing forming a return element is disposed in the vicinity of the
Alternatively, the external fastening of the flaps could be achieved by simple strips of self-gripping material extending on the outer face of the rear flap and on the inner face of the front flap instead of the outer straps. However, a strap attachment provides more safety for the user and extends the life of the vest.

The cover of the
The elastic
These self-gripping
More particularly, the self-gripping
In addition, a
The vest 1 described above thus allows a better attachment of the side flaps, while leaving the adjustable tightening for example by using the external straps 40. The elasticity of the
The donning time of the vest by the user is thus reduced compared to a vest of the state of the art and allows the vest to do without a ventral belt impractical.
The inner flap has been described as the rear flap and the outer flap as the front flap. However, it is understood that the inner flap could be formed by the front flap and that the outer flap could be formed by the rear flap.
