Es liegt im Rahmen der Erfindung, dass das fluide Medium ein flüssiges Medium bzw. eine Flüssigkeit oder eine flüssige Lösung ist. Zweckmäßigerweise wird als fluides Medium eine Avivage bzw. ein Aviviermittel verwendet. Empfohlenermaßen sind durch das Aufbringen des fluiden Medium auf die Warenbahn die Eigenschaften und insbesondere die Oberflächeneigenschaften der Warenbahn veränderbar. Es hat sich bewährt, als fluides Medium beispielsweise ein Netzmittel, ein Tensid, eine Mischung eines Netzmittels und eines Tensids oder einen Farbstoff bzw. eine Farbstofflösung einzusetzen. Die Auftragswalze 2 taucht mit ihrem unteren Bereich in einen in den Figuren nicht dargestellten Behälter ein, in welchem Behälter die Auftragsfläche der Auftragswalze 2 vollständig und kontinuierlich mit dem fluiden Medium versorgt bzw. beaufschlagt wird. Aufgrund der Rotation der Auftragswalze 2 wird das fluide Medium auf die über die Auftragswalze 2 geführte Vliesbahn 1 aufgebracht.
