Claims (18)
- Method of assembling a flange (2) of a drum (1) comprising an assembly of wooden segments (2A), placed side by side to form a disc, and a U-shaped rim (4),
said method being CHARACTERISED in that in order to form the flange (2):- the rim (4) is closed,- the segments (2A) are placed side by side with the outer end engaged in the groove of the rim,- prior to introducing the last segment, a force is applied in the plane of the disc to all the assembled segments in order to compress the segments and clear a free space with an angle that is greater than that of the segment to be introduced,- the outer end of the last segment is then located in the groove of the rim, followed by the inner end and- the compression is released as soon as possible once the outer end of the last segment has been located. - Method as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the dimension of the segments is selected so that the sum of the angles of said segments is greater than 2n so as to produce a clamping effect once said segments have been introduced.
- Method as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the compression force is applied to the assembled segments by applying force to the lateral faces of the segments framing the last free space.
- Method as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that a hole (15) is made in the thickness of the two segments framing the space in which the last segment is to be introduced, a finger is introduced into each of the holes and the fingers are forced apart in order to clear a space large enough to introduce the last segment.
- Method as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the two segments framing the free space are clamped and moved apart.
- Means for implementing the method as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that they comprise:- a rim (4) with a U-shaped cross section, which is closed beforehand,- a supporting table (10) and- means (100) for exerting a force in the plane of the disc on all the assembled segments in order to compress the segments and clear a free space with an angle greater than that of the last segment to be introduced.
- Means as claimed in claim 6, characterised in that:- the supporting table (10) consists of two segments (10A, 10B) which can be moved about an axis congruent with that of the flange, each segment (10A, 10B) being defined by an angle of less than 180,- each segment (10A, 10B) of the table bears a stop (11) on which the region of the segment framing the space in which the last segment is to be inserted is supported, for example, and- a motor means (12) which moves the stops towards and away from one another.
- Means as claimed in claim 6, characterised in that the means (100) therefore comprise two fingers and a motor means for moving the two fingers apart.
- Means as claimed in claim 7, characterised in that each stop (11) comprises one of the two opposing faces of a plate (13) affixed to the supporting table.
- Means as claimed in claim 6, characterised in that the means (100) for exerting a force with a view to compressing the segments comprise two clamps (110) designed to grip the end segments and a means (120) designed to displace at least one clamp relative to the other in order to move them apart.
- Means as claimed in claim 10, characterised in that the clamps are displaced relative to one another by means of a jack (120) supported on each bottom arm of the clamp.
- Means as claimed in claim 10, characterised in that:- the clamps (110) each have two jaws, a bottom one (110A) and a top one (110B),- one (110A) is supported by a cylinder (130) and the other by a second cylinder (140) coaxial with the first, the cylinders being displaceable in rotation, one relative to the other.
- Means as claimed in claim 12, characterised in that each top jaw is mounted at one (115) of its ends (115, 116) so as to articulate about the co-operating bottom jaw so that they can be moved apart in order to retract the flange.
- Means as claimed in claim 13, characterised in that the top jaw (110B) is disposed in an articulated mounting (118) with the distal end of the bottom jaw (110A).
- Means as claimed in claim 12, characterised in that one (116) of the ends has a means of establishing a rapid coupling with the bottom arm, at least indirectly.
- Means as claimed in claim 15, characterised in that the rapid coupling is effected by means of a central piece (119) coaxial with the cylinders.
- Means as claimed in claim 16, characterised in that in order to establish the rapid coupling, the co-operating end of the top jaw has a piece (121) with the shape of a disc segment which is moved into positioned about a lock (122).
- Drum flange obtained by the method as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 5.
