Description

The invention relates to a hinged box for a group of cigarettes or the like with a box part and a hinged lid hingedly connected to it, and with a collar consisting of a collar front wall and collar side walls, which is anchored to a partial area in the box part and the upper area thereof by means of the hinged lid is enclosed in the closed position, the hinged lid having a lid inner flap which is integrally connected to a lid front wall by a fold line and folded against the inside of the lid front wall, and wherein the collar is connected to the hinged lid by residual connections consisting of the packaging material which can be severed when the hinged lid is opened for the first time.

Such a folding box and such a blank are known from CA-A 1 250 553. The collar is connected in one piece to the front wall of the box via an intermediate folding tab. When the folding box is manufactured, the intermediate folding tabs and the collar are folded in a Z-shape against the front wall of the box. This creates a three-layer structure that is unusual for hinged boxes in the upper area of the box front wall. Furthermore, a recess in the front wall of the collar, which is customary in the case of hinged boxes, is filled with a material flap which is connected to the front wall of the collar via perforation or residual connections. In the finished hinged box, this material flap is glued to the inside of a lid inner flap so that the remaining connections are severed when the hinged box is opened for the first time. Here, too, a local three-layer design of the lid front wall is created, which differs from the design of conventional folding boxes.

A folding box for pastilles or the like is known from WO-A 90/14 278. In this hinge-lid box, the collar is connected via residual connections to a folding tab which is connected in one piece to the top wall of the lid by a folding line. In the finished folding box, this folding flap is glued to the inside of the front cover wall. This creates a visible impact on the top of the front cover wall. To achieve a one-piece cut, the lid front wall is connected to the box front wall via residual connections, which must also be cut when the package is opened for the first time. These remaining connections remain visible as a tip or protrusion when the hinged box is open. This hinged box and the blank on which it is based therefore also differ significantly from the standard structure of a conventional hinged box.

The invention has for its object to provide a hinged box in which the collar is integrally connected to the actual blank for the hinged box, and in which the usual structure of a hinged box is largely preserved.

To achieve this object, the hinged box according to the invention is characterized in that the collar is connected by the remaining connections to the inner flap of the lid, namely at a free edge of the inner flap of the lid opposite the fold line, and that the inner flap of the lid extends almost over its full height the lid front wall extends.

The blank according to the invention is characterized in that the lid front wall is connected in one piece by a fold line to the lid upper wall and to the lid inner flap, which is folded against the inside of the lid front wall in the hinged box to be produced, and that the collar by the remaining connections are connected to the lid inner tab on an edge of the lid inner tab opposite the lid front wall.

The remaining connections in the finished hinged box are therefore only inside the lid and are imperceptible from the outside. Furthermore, the front of the hinged box in the region of the collar is constructed in three layers in the usual way, namely consisting of the collar front wall, inner lid flap and front lid wall. The upper area of the front wall of the box is constructed in the usual manner in two layers, namely consisting of collar front wall and box front wall. The outer appearance of the hinged box thus speaks completely the conventional, customary hinged box made of two separate blanks. Due to the inner flap of the lid extending over the full height of the lid front wall, the collar protrudes far enough from the box part of the finished hinged box to ensure good guidance of the hinged lid.

The packagings shown as exemplary embodiments are cuboid and serve to hold cigarettes 10. A cigarette group 11 is - like in conventional cigarette packs - surrounded by an inner wrapping 12 made of tinfoil, paper or a film. The cigarette group 11 with the inner wrapper 12 forms a cigarette block 13 as the content of the packaging. As is known, the inner wrapping 12 is provided in the upper region on the front with a tearable flap 14 in order to expose a portion of the cigarettes 10 for removal.

The packaging consists of an upper part 15 and a lower part 16. In the exemplary embodiments shown, the dimensions are chosen such that the lower part 16 is slightly larger or higher than the upper part 15. A connecting strip 17 extending all around extends from the upper part 15 and the lower part 16 slightly above an (imaginary) central transverse plane of the packaging.

Upper part 15 and lower part 16 consist of different packaging materials and are designed differently. The upper part 15 is designed in the manner of a hinged box (hinge-lid pack). The lower part 16 corresponds to a partial area of a soft pack.

The upper part 15 consists of (thin) cardboard. A hinged lid 18 is designed like a hinged box. Furthermore, a collar 19 with a collar front wall 20 and collar side walls 21 is provided.

Upper part 15 and lower part 16 each consist of separate, one-piece blanks. The cut for the upper part 15 is shown in FIG. 4 and the cut for the lower part 16 in FIG. 3 in the expanded state. The upper part then consists of a rear wall 22 of low height. On the sides thereof there are side tabs 23 for forming side walls of the upper part 15. A lid rear wall 24 is connected to the rear wall 22 via an articulated line 25. Lid side tabs 26 are arranged laterally on the lid rear wall. The side flaps 23 and the lid side flaps 26 are separated from one another by an oblique cut 27 which is customary in folding boxes.

A lid top wall 28 adjoins the lid rear wall 24 and a lid front wall 29 adjoins this. In the area of the top cover wall 28 there are side flaps 30. These lie on the inside of the top cover wall 28 when the packaging is finished. Trapezoidal outer lid side tabs 31 are connected to the lid front wall 29, which together with the lid side tabs 26 form side walls of the hinged lid 18. The cover side tabs 26 on the one hand and 31 on the other hand are connected to one another by adhesive bonding.

The upper part 15 is formed in the present case without a front wall. The function of the front wall is performed by the collar 19 or the collar front wall 20. The collar side walls 21 are connected to the side tabs 23, so that the upper part 15 forms a unit with the collar 19. In the closed position of the pack, the collar 19 is usually enclosed by the hinged lid 18 in an (upper) partial area.

The e.g. paper blank (Fig. 3) for the lower part 16 is rectangular. The blank forms a front wall 32, a rear wall 33 and an intermediate side wall 34. An opposite side wall is formed by a side tab 35 on the edge of the blank. The side tab 35 is bonded to a connecting strip 36 attached to the blank on the opposite side. A bottom wall is formed from bottom flaps 37, 38 folded like an envelope. These are glued together. This creates a cup-like lower part 16.

Upper part 15 and lower part 16 are connected to one another in the region of the connecting strip 17 by gluing. An upper, free edge of the lower part 16 covers the lower, free edge of the upper part 15 or the collar 19 (collar front wall 20) in the region of the connecting strip 17. The dimensions are such that a free, lower edge of the lid front wall 29 is opposite an upper, free edge of the front wall 32 of the lower part 16. The edges meet in the closed position. The collar 19 is integrally connected to the cardboard blank for the upper part 15 (FIG. 4). The upper part 15 and the collar 19 therefore form a common, one-piece blank.

For this purpose, a folding flap adjoins a free, outer edge of the lid front wall 29, namely a lid inner flap 39. In the fully folded packaging, this is folded over against the inside of the lid front wall 29 and expediently connected to it by adhesive (FIG . 2).

In the present exemplary embodiment, the blank for the collar 19 is connected to the inner lid flap 39 and can be easily removed. The connection here therefore consists only of residual connections 40, namely connecting webs made of the material of the blank, on the lateral edge regions of the inner lid flap 39 on the one hand and on the lateral edge regions of the collar front wall 20 on the other hand. In the present example, a narrow, web-like residual connection 40 of the packaging material is formed on each side. Otherwise, the cut of the collar 19 is separated from the cut of the upper part 15 by a punch cut 41.

In the present exemplary embodiment, a tongue-shaped folding tab 42 adjoins the side of the inner lid tab 39 facing the collar 19. In the case of the finished folded pack, this lies against the inside of the top wall 28 or against the corner flaps 30 of the hinged lid 18. The contour of the folding flap 42 corresponds to a cutout 43 in the front wall 20 of the collar, which is customary for folding boxes.

1 to 4, the connection between the blank for the upper part 15 and the collar 19 initially remains. When the packaging is used, namely when the hinged lid 18 is opened, the remaining connections 40 are severed. The package then corresponds to a conventional folding box in the upper area.

The upper part 15 is designed in the manner described in connection with FIGS. 1 to 4. 5 is that the lower part 16 of the packaging made of thin, flexible packaging material envelops the entire packaging. The cut for that Lower part 16 is extended upwards beyond the connecting strip 17 and completely covers the upper part 15, including the hinged lid 18, on the outside. In this embodiment, it is recommended that the lower part 16 and a cap 44 adjoining it in the area of the upper part 15 be made from a film, for example from a plastic film. This forms the lower part 16 in the lower part of the pack and an aroma-preserving covering in the area of the upper part 15. The entire packaging is wrapped in a continuous, one-piece outer cut.

For the use of the packaging, the upper part of the outer wrapping, that is the cap 44, is separated from the lower part 16. A packaging then remains which corresponds to that according to FIGS. 1 to 4. For this purpose, the remaining part of the outer casing, namely the lower part 16, is connected to the upper part 15 by a glue or seal in the manner described along a connecting strip 17.

To tear off the cap 44, a normal tear strip 45 or a tear thread is attached at the level of the connecting strip 17. By pulling it off, the cap 44 is released and can be pulled off the upper part 15 of the packaging. For this purpose, the connecting strip 17 is arranged below the tear strip 45.

The design of a hinged box according to FIGS. 1 to 4 can also be used with particular advantage in the case of a hinged box made entirely of cardboard. Fig. 6 shows a one-piece blank 46 made of thin cardboard. Except for the design of the hinged lid 18 and the collar 19, this is designed in a conventional manner, namely with areas for a box part 47 on the one hand and the hinged lid 18 on the other. In addition to the back wall 22 and the box part 47 belong Side tabs 23 form a front wall 48 and a bottom wall 49. Further side tabs 50 together with the side tabs 23 form side walls of the box part 47.

The blank parts forming the hinged cover 18 are designed as in the example in FIG. 4. In the finished folding box from a blank 46, the upper area, namely the lid, is designed as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. The collar 19 sits with the collar front wall 20 and the collar side walls 21 partially in the box part 47, so it lies against the inside of the front wall 48 and the side tabs 23.

Such a blank 46 is inexpensive to manufacture. At the same time, the manufacture of the pack is easy to do by machine. During the folding processes, the collar 19 automatically reaches the position appropriate for the pack. The additional folding tab 42 on the inside of the lid top wall 28 results in an increased rigidity in the area of the hinged lid 18. The collar 19 is connected to the inside of the box part 47 in the usual way by glue marks during the folding process.

Claims (4)

1. Hinge-lid box for a group of cigarettes (10) or the like, having a box part (47) and a hinge lid (18) which is connected in an articulated manner to said box part, and having a collar (19) which comprises collar front wall (20) and collar side walls (21), has a sub-region anchored in the box part (47) and has its upper region enclosed by the hinge lid (18) in the closed position, the hinge lid (18) having a lid inner tab (39) which is connected integrally to a lid front wall (29) by a folding line and is folded against the inner side of the lid front wall (29), and the collar (19) being connected to the hinge lid (18) by residual connections (40) which consist of the packaging material and can be severed when the hinge lid (18) is opened for the first time, characterized in that the collar (19) is connected to the lid inner tab (39) by the residual connections (40), that is to say at a free border of the lid inner tab (39) which is located opposite the folding line, and in that the lid inner tab (39) extends virtually over the entire height of the lid front wall (29).
2. Hinge-lid box according to Claim 1, characterized in that the residual connections (40) extend exclusively on either side of a folding tab (42) which is connected integrally to the lid inner tab (39) and rests against the inner side of a lid top wall (28).
3. Blank for producing hinge-lid boxes for receiving cigarettes (10) or the like,

   - a blank (46) forming a box part (47) and a hinge lid (18) which is connected to said box part and has a lid top wall (28) and a lid front wall (29) and a lid inner tab (39) which is connected to the lid front wall (29),

   - a collar (19) being connected integrally to the blank (46), that is to say to the lid inner tab (39), via residual connections, and

   - the residual connections (40) being arranged adjacent to side borders of the lid inner tab (39), on the one hand, and on either side of a cutout (43) of the collar front wall (20), on the other hand,

   characterized in that the lid front wall (29) is connected integrally, by a folding line, to the lid top wall (28) and to the lid inner tab (39), which is folded against the inner side of the lid front wall (29) in the hinge-lid box which is to be produced, and in that the collar (19) is connected to the lid inner tab (39) by the residual connections (40), at a border of the lid inner tab (39) which is located opposite the lid front wall (29).
4. Blank according to Claim 3, characterized in that, on that side of the lid inner tab (39) which faces the collar (19), a tongue-like folding tab (42) is connected integrally to the lid inner tab (39), the contour of the folding tab (42) corresponding to the cutout (43) in the collar front wall (20) and being separated from said collar front wall by a punch cut (41).
