Abstract
Description
- L'invention concerne un emballage souple ouvert pour la confection d'une boisson, sous forme de capsule adaptée aux machines d'extraction par fluide sous pression.
- L'utilisation de capsules pour la préparation d'une boisson à partir d'une substance pulvérulente, surtout dans le domaine des cafés type espresso extraits sous pression, est motivée par plusieurs raisons: hygiène, conservation optimale du café, facilité d'usage, meilleure maîtrise de la qualité du café obtenu et bonne reproductibilité des conditions d'extraction.
- Ces capsules peuvent se présenter sous forme ouverte, avec les faces supérieure et inférieure perméables afin de laisser passer le fluide d'extraction.
- Afin de conserver la qualité du café en le protégeant contre l'humidité et l'oxygène, les capsules ouvertes doivent être suremballées dans des sachets étanches ou présenter des opercules pelables étanches sur les deux faces.
- Afin de satisfaire aux législations des divers pays concernant le recyclage des matériaux d'emballage, un nouveau concept de capsule doit pouvoir être réalisé avec des matériaux légers, par exemple avec des films de matière plastique.
- D'autre part, pour satisfaire également à des contraintes économiques et commerciales, les capsules devraient pouvoir être fabriquées sur les mêmes machines de conditionnement et être extraites sur les mêmes machines d'extraction.
- Enfin, afin de réduire la consommation de matières pour la fabrication des capsules, celles-ci doivent être simplifiées. Ceci peut être obtenu, par exemple, en éliminant le filtre à la base de la capsule.
- L'utilisation, dans un souci écologique ou économique, de matières souples de faible épaisseur pour la fabrication de capsules, contenant par exemple du café moulu et destinées à être extraites sous pression d'eau chaude, se heurte en général au problème qui est de donner et surtout de maintenir après manipulation, transport et stockage une forme déterminée à ces capsules permettant une extraction correcte de la substance pulvérulente.
- Or, pour obtenir une bonne extraction de ces capsules, celles-ci doivent épouser parfaitement la forme intérieure du dispositif d'extraction afin d'éviter tout passage préférentiel de l'eau en dehors du lit, par exemple de café.
- Des capsules de papier filtre contenant du café moulu compacté sont décrites par exemple dans le brevet CH 527.592 ou la demande de brevet EP-A-0272.432.
- De telles capsules compactées présentent des inconvénients:
- le café devant être compacté, il y a un risque qu'il ne soit pas bien mouillé lors de l'extraction, ce qui conduit à une extraction incomplète;
- le papier filtre n'étant pas déformable, ce matériau peut se déchirer et l'étanchéité de l'extraction n'est alors pas assurée;
- les capsules exigent des adaptateurs spécifiques épousant exactement leur forme pour obtenir l'étanchéité nécessaire à l'extraction.
- Le but de la présente invention est de réaliser une capsule ouverte, de disposition tronconique ou tronconique inversée constituée de matériaux souples, qui garde une forme notamment pendant l'extraction, de sorte que l'extraction ait lieu correctement par passage du fluide d'extraction sans chemins préférentiels à travers le lit de substance pulvérulente et qui peut être extraite dans les machines espresso classiques de manière étanche sans dispositif d'adaptation.
- L'emballage selon l'invention est constitué d'un corps en forme de cavité tronconique ou tronconique inversée pourvue d'un rebord, contenant une substance pulvérulente pour la confection d'une boisson fermé par une membrane.
- Il est caractérisé par le fait que le corps est déformable ou extensible pour s'adapter exactement aux différents dispositifs d'extraction, que le corps et la membrane sont en matériau plastique souple perméable ou que le fond du corps et la partie centrale de la membrane sont perforés ou que la membrane est en papier filtre.
- Selon un premier mode de réalisation, la paroi latérale du corps de la capsule se prolonge au-delà de la cavité contenant la substance. Etant souple, le corps est déformable longitudinalement et latéralement, ce qui permet l'adaptation de la capsule au porte-filtre lors de l'extraction.
- Par ailleurs, la capsule possède un rebord large, de sorte que l'extraction s'opère de manière étanche, le rebord faisant office de joint entre la machine et le porte-filtre.
- Selon un second mode de réalisation, la paroi annulaire du corps présente dans sa partie proche de la grande base du tronc de cône un soufflet qui permet l'extension de la cavité ainsi que l'étanchéité de l'extraction.
- Dans les réalisations mentionnées précédemment où le corps est déformable et extensible, l'extraction peut être réalisée sans modification des pièces du dispositif d'extraction, c'est-à-dire qu'elle ne nécessite pas d'adaptateur.
- L'emballage selon l'invention peut également être extrait avec le dispositif comportant une grille faisant l'objet de la demande de brevet européen No 91107462 de la demanderesse. L'emballage peut être également extrait dans une machine à café de type espresso classique moyennant un adaptateur spécifique tel que décrit dans les demandes de brevet européen déposées le même jour que la présente demande par la demanderesse sous les titres "Dispositif d'extraction de cartouches adaptable à toute machine espresso", "Dispositif permettant l'extraction de cartouches" et "Dispositif d'extraction de cartouches".
- L'invention concerne en outre un procédé de fabrication de l'emballage, caractérisé par le fait que l'on thermoforme le corps de la capsule présentant un rebord dans un premier film, on remplit la cavité ainsi formée avec une composition pulvérulente pour boisson et on tasse la composition dans la cavité sous un courant de gaz inerte, on scelle la membrane formée à partir d'un second film sur le corps de la capsule, on perfore le fond du corps et le cas échéant la membrane puis on découpe la capsule.
- L'invention sera mieux comprise à l'aide de la description ci-après relative à différentes variantes de capsules données à titre d'exemple par référence aux dessins annexés dans lesquels:
les figures 1,2 et 3 sont des coupes schématiques médianes de différentes capsules de forme tronconique inversée et
les figures 4 à 6 sont des représentations schématiques du procédé de fabrication des capsules.
Dans les figures 1 à 3, le corps l et la membrane 2 de la capsule sont constitués de feuilles minces souples de matière plastique. - A la figure 1, la membrane et le corps sont préalablement thermoformés et présentent des rebords larges 3 et 4 thermosoudés.
- A la figure 2, le corps présente un soufflet 5 concave sur sa paroi annulaire. A la figure 3, le soufflet 6 est convexe. A la fig.2, la partie périphérique 7 de la membrane est soudée au rebord 3 du corps et se présente sous forme d'une rondelle après découpe, cependant que sa partie centrale 8 est soudée au rebord interne du soufflet 5.
- A la figure 3, la membrane 2 prédécoupée est soudée au sommet du soufflet 6. En variante la membrane 2 peut être découpée postérieurement à son soudage au-delà du soufflet 6.
- Les capsules ont des perforations 9 dans le fond du corps et 10 dans la partie centrale de la membrane.
- A la figure 4, on forme en 11 le corps 1 par thermoformage. En 12, on dose et on tasse du café moulu 13, puis on soude la membrane thermoformée 2 sur le rebord 3 du corps.
- Les opérations de dosage, tassage et soudage de la membrane s'effectuent sous azote.
- On perfore le fond du corps et la membrane avec des aiguilles chaudes sur leur partie centrale (9, 10). Le procédé illustré s'applique à la fabrication de la capsule de la figure 1.
- A la figure 5, on thermoforme le corps 1 en même temps qu'une gorge annulaire 14. On remplit ensuite la cavité centrale de café moulu et on le tasse. On perfore alors le fond de la cavité, puis on soude une membrane 2 (perforée ou perméable) suivant les zones de soudure en couronne 15 et 16. On découpe ensuite la capsule suivant les lignes de coupe 17 et 18. On voit qu'on a ainsi créé un soufflet annulaire 5 qui permet l'extension de la capsule et son adaptation aux différents portes-filtres d'extraction, en même temps que l'on a réalisé une rondelle 7 à la grande base du tronc de cône du corps permettant de maintenir la forme générale de la capsule tout en lui assurant suffisamment de souplesse. Par ailleurs, l'étanchéité de l'extraction est ainsi assurée. Ce procédé s'applique à la fabrication de la capsule de la figure 2.
- Le procédé illustré à la figure 6 diffère de celui de la figure 5 par le fait que le soufflet formé est convexe. Par ailleurs, la membrane 2 est prédécoupée, puis soudée sur la cavité remplie au niveau du sommet 19 du soufflet. En variante, la membrane peut être soudée, puis découpée au-delà du soufflet. On découpe enfin la capsule selon 20. On pourrait selon une variante non représentée de ce procédé opérer de la même manière en soudant la membrane prédécoupée sur le rebord interne d'un soufflet concave ou encore en soudant la membrane sur le rebord interne du soufflet, puis en la découpant au-delà du soufflet.
- Les parois minces et souples du corps et de la membrane peuvent être en matière plastique thermoformable telle que le polyéthylène, le polyamide, le polypropylène ou un polyester, par exemple le polyéthylènetéréphtalate, par exemple de 20 à 150 µm d'épaisseur mono-couche ou multi-couches ou en matière à base de cellulose telle qu'un complexe de papier par exemple de grammage 12 à 25 g/m2 et matière plastique telle que décrit précédemment, par exemple de 10 à 50 um d'épaisseur. Le corps et la membrane sont perforés dans leur partie centrale. Les ouvertures peuvent être béantes ou se refermer en apparence. Dans ce dernier cas, la capsule sera extraite avec un porte-filtre spécifique muni d'ailettes sur la grille d'écoulement dont le but est d'agrandir les fentes sous l'effet de la pression.
- Le corps et la membrane peuvent également être en complexe de polyester ou polypropylène tissé ou non tissé, par exemple de grammage 15 à 40 g/m2. La membrane peut également être en papier filtre de grammage 15 à 40 g/m² dans le cas des versions des figures 2 et 3.
- Dans toutes les versions présentées dans ce texte, la capsule selon l'invention peut être de taille variable suivant le volume de boisson que l'on souhaite préparer. Par exemple, la dose de café contenue peut varier entre 5 et 20 g, le diamètre de la capsule est compris entre 2,5 et 8 cm et l'épaisseur du lit de café entre 10 et 25 mm.
- La capsule est remplie d'une composition pulvérulente pour la préparation d'une boisson. Cette substance est de préférence du café torréfié et moulu, mais peut être aussi du thé, du café soluble, un mélange de café moulu et de café soluble ou un produit chocolaté.
- Dans tous les cas, le fluide d'extraction sera dirigé en un flux vertical de manière à traverser tout le lit de composition pulvérulente sans risque de création de flux d'écoulement latéral.
- Pour des raisons de conservation, la capsule selon l'invention sera suremballée individuellement avec un matériau mince constituant une barrière étanche à l'oxygène et à l'humidité, par exemple un copolymère d'alcool vinylique et d'éthylène, le cas échéant chargé de silice ou métallisé, un polychlorure de vinylidène ou un multicouches d'aluminium, de papier et d'une matière plastique.
Claims (8)
- Emballage souple ouvert pour la confection d'une boisson, sous forme de capsule adaptée aux machines d'extraction par fluide sous pression, constitué d'un corps en forme de cavité tronconique ou tronconique inversée pourvue d'un rebord, contenant une substance pulvérulente pour la confection d'une boisson, fermé par une membrane, caractérisé par le fait que le corps est déformable ou extensible pour s'adapter exactement aux différents dispositifs d'extraction, que le corps et la membrane sont en matériau plastique souple perméable ou que le fond du corps et la partie centrale de la membrane sont perforés ou que la membrane est en papier filtre.
- Emballage selon la revendication 1, caractérisé par le fait que la paroi annulaire du corps présente dans sa partie proche de la grande base du tronc de cône un soufflet qui permet l'extension de la cavité ainsi que l'étanchéité de l'extraction et la circulation du fluide d'extraction au travers du lit de substance pulvérulente.
- Procédé de fabrication d'un emballage selon la revendication 1, caractérisé par le fait que l'on thermoforme le corps de la capsule présentant un rebord dans un premier film, on remplit la cavité ainsi formée avec une composition pulvérulente pour boisson et on tasse la composition dans la cavité sous un courant de gaz inerte, on scelle la membrane formée à partir d'un second film sur le corps de la capsule, on perfore le fond du corps et le cas échéant la membrane puis on découpe la capsule.
- Procédé selon la revendication 3, caractérisé par le fait que l'on forme un soufflet annulaire autour de la cavité lors du thermoformage du corps.
- Procédé selon la revendication 4, caractérisé par le fait que l'on forme un soufflet concave, que l'on scelle la membrane sur le rebord du corps et sur le rebord du soufflet, que l'on découpe la membrane en premier lieu à l'extérieur du rebord intérieur du soufflet et en second lieu avec le rebord du corps.
- Procédé selon la revendication 4, caractérisé par le fait que l'on forme un soufflet concave, que l'on découpe et que l'on scelle la membrane prédécoupée sur le rebord intérieur du soufflet, puis que l'on découpe la capsule.
- Procédé selon la revendication 4, caractérisé par le fait que l'on forme un soufflet convexe, que l'on découpe et que l'on scelle la membrane prédécoupée sur le sommet du soufflet, puis que l'on découpe la capsule.
- Procédé selon la revendication 4, caractérisé par le fait que l'on forme un soufflet convexe, que l'on scelle la membrane sur le sommet du soufflet, que l'on découpe la membrane en premier lieu au-delà du soufflet et en second lieu avec avec le rebord du corps.
