Anschliessend wird jeweils der Querbalken 12 durch den Druckluftkolben 14 angehoben und der Arm 15 mit der Aufreissvorrichtung 17 mitgenommen, wobei die Scheiben der stirnseitigen Verpackung wegen der abstehenden Ringe derselben an den Manschetten 41 hängen bleiben und mit angehoben werden. Anschliessend werden die Schlitten 10a,b gegen die Portalenden zurückgezogen und das Portal 2 selber in die in Fig. 1 dargestellte Wartestellung gefahren. Während nun das vom Mantel der Papierrolle 4 abgetrennte Material wie oben geschildert auf den Riemen 27 durch das Portal 2 transportiert wird, werden beidseits die Riegel 38a,b am Dorn 31 eingeklappt, sodass die Manschette 41 durch die Spiralfeder 42 zurückgerissen wird und die Scheiben des stirnseitigen Verpackungsmaterials auf das vom Mantel abgetrennte Material fallen und mit demselben zur Aufwickelvorrichtung 30 transportiert und mitaufgewickelt werden.For complete removal of the separated slices of the end packaging, the mandrel 31 of the tear-open device 17 is preferably pushed back into the cardboard sleeve 57, corresponding to that shown in FIG Fig. 8a position and then retracted into the position shown in Fig. 8b. Claims (22)

  1. Process for at least partially unpacking a roll of paper (4) which is wound up on a central tube (57), characterized in that at least one end-side part of the packaging is removed by means of the following automatically performed steps:
    - establishing the position of the centre of the end face (58a; 58b),
    - opening the packaging at the centre of the end face (58a; 58b),
    - applying a cutting tool to the centre of the end face (58a; 58b),
    - executing a first cut as far as the border of the end face (58a; 58b),
    - executing a subsequent, second cut around the border of the end face (58a; 58b).
  2. Process according to Claim 1, characterized in that the roll of paper (4) is supported, at least in the region of its end sides, in each case at two bearing locations, which are spaced apart one beside the other, and for the purpose of establishing the centre of the end face (58a; 58b)
    - a first sensing location, located centrally between the bearing locations on the upper part of the circumference of the roll of paper (4), is determined,
    - a second sensing location is determined, this being located on the lateral part of the circumference of the roll of paper (4) such that the connecting line between said second sensing location and the first sensing location encloses a specific sensing angle with the vertical,
    - the position of the centre of the end face (58a; 58b) is determined from the position of the first sensing location and the position of the second sensing location.
  3. Process according to Claim 2, characterized in that the sensing angle is 45°.
  4. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that, for opening the packaging in the centre of the end face (58a; 58b), if appropriate a tube core (60), which closes off the tube (57) of the roll of paper (4), is gripped and is drawn out of the tube (57).
  5. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the second cut is executed by the roll of paper (4) being rotated about its axis while the cutting tool is stationary.
  6. Process according to one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that, after the removal of the end-side part of the packaging, a cutting tool is applied to the border of the exposed end face (58a; 58b), and the jacket part of the packaging is severed by a cut which is executed as far as the opposite end side.
  7. Process according to Claim 6, characterized in that, after it has been severed, the jacket part of the packaging is unwound, the roll of paper (4) being rotated in the process, and removed.
  8. Apparatus for carrying out the process according to one of Claims 1 to 7, having a portal (2) which is aligned parallel to a longitudinal direction, and having a bearing which is intended for the roll of paper and comprises two rotatable carrying rollers (5a, 5b) which are spaced apart one beside the other in the longitudinal direction, and having at least one side cutter (19) which is fastened on the portal (2) and can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction, characterized in that the apparatus has at least one sensing device for establishing the position of the centre of an end face, the sensing device possessing a first sensor (13), which can be lowered vertically in the centre between the carrying rollers (5a, 5b), and a second sensor (18) which can be moved vertically and, at the same time, can be displaced horizontally, and the apparatus further has at least one tearing-open device (17) which can be displaced vertically beneath the first sensor (13) and is intended for opening the packaging at the centre of an end face (58a; 58b), and in that the side cutter (19) can be displaced transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction.
  9. Apparatus according to Claim 8, characterized in that the portal (2) can be displaced, transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction, between a standby position, in which it is located beside the carrying rollers (5a, 5b), and an operating position, in which it projects beyond the carrying rollers (5a, 5b).
  10. Apparatus according to Claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the portal (2) has mounted on it two carriages (10a, 10b) which can be advanced in the longitudinal direction towards the portal centre and can be drawn back in the longitudinal direction towards the portal ends and which each bear a sensing device, a tearing-open device (17) and a side cutter (19).
  11. Apparatus according to Claim 10, characterized in that each carriage (10a, 10b) comprises a vertically displaceable carrier (11) which bears the first sensor (13) and a vertically displaceable arm (15) on which the second sensor (18) and the side cutter (19) are guided.
  12. Apparatus according to one of Claims 8 to 11, characterized in that the second sensor (18) is respectively designed as a guide roller for making contact with the roll of paper (4).
  13. Apparatus according to one of Claims 8 to 12, characterized in that the first sensor (13) is connected in each case to a light source or a photocell (21) and the second sensor (18) is connected to a photocell or a light source (22), and in that the directional characteristics of the light source (22) and of the photocell (21) are matched to one another such that the output signal from the photocell (21) which is caused by light emerging from the light source (22) exceeds a response threshold when the angle enclosed by the vertical and the connecting line between the first sensor (13) and the second sensor (18) reaches the sensing angle.
  14. Apparatus according to Claims 11 and 13, characterized in that the sensing angle is 45° in each case, and the tearing-open device (17) is fastened on the arm (15) at the same level as the second sensor (18).
  15. Apparatus according to one of Claims 8 to 14, characterized in that the tearing-open device (17) has a mandrel (31) which can be adjusted in the vertical direction and can be advanced and drawn back in the longitudinal direction.
  16. Apparatus according to Claim 15, characterized in that, in the end region, the mandrel (31) has at least one laterally extendable and retractable bar (38a, 38b).
  17. Apparatus according to Claim 16, characterized in that the mandrel (31) comprises a tube (34) and a locking rod (36) which is guided displaceably in said tube, and the bar (38a, 38b) can be extended and retracted by said locking rod being displaced in the tube (34).
  18. Apparatus according to Claim 17, characterized in that the bar (38a, 38b) is fastened on the locking rod (36) such that it can be rotated about an axis which is perpendicular with respect to the longitudinal direction, and, during displacements of said locking rod, the bar can be swung out and in by way of contact with carry-along members on the tube (34).
  19. Apparatus according to one of Claims 16 to 18, characterized in that the tearing-open device (17) comprises a sleeve (41) which encloses the mandrel (31), is in operative connection with a spring element, which can be subjected to stressing by said sleeve being advanced, and with which the bar (38a, 38b) can engage.
  20. Apparatus according to Claim 19, characterized in that the sleeve (41) has at least one outwardly projecting ring.
  21. Apparatus according to one of Claims 8 to 20, characterized in that the side cutter (19) is made up of two coulters which are aligned at right angles with respect to one another.
  22. Apparatus according to one of Claims 8 to 21, characterized in that a jacket cutter (24) is fastened on the portal (2) such that it can be displaced in the longitudinal direction and can be adjusted transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction.
