Description

- un support ;
- un berceau de cordage , ayant la forme d'un cadre de raquette, monté à rotation sur le support, réglable au position angulaire par rapport au support ; ce berceau comporte du côté extérieur, et sur son pourtour, une pluralité de consoles pourvues chacune de plusieurs rainures de réglage perpendiculaires, c'est à dire dirigées vers le centre du cadre ;
In accordance with French addition certificate 43577, such a device has been described comprising:
- a support ;
- a cradle of rope, in the form of a racket frame, rotatably mounted on the support, adjustable to the angular position relative to the support; this cradle comprises on the outside, and on its periphery, a plurality of consoles each provided with several perpendicular adjustment grooves, that is to say directed towards the center of the frame;
a means of rigid but removable fixing of the frame of the racket on the stringing cradle, comprising a plurality of independent fixing members, which can be attached opposite, of removable and adjustable material on the different consoles of the cradle, thanks to threaded rods with wing nuts belonging to said bodies respectively; each fastener comprises a clamping jaw, directed and open towards the frame of the racket, comprising two parallel jaws, movable together with respect to each other, in approach or in distance thanks to a manual control mechanism with pinion and screws; the clamping jaw is completed on its outer edge by a lateral stop adjustable in translation independently of the jaws.

Une telle machine présente les inconvénients suivants.Such a machine has the following drawbacks.

The establishment and removal of the same frame is carried out by manual control of the multitude of mechanisms associated with the various fixing members respectively, since each comprises at least one adjustment of the jaws of the clamping jaw, and one adjustment of the lateral stop.

For different frames, it is also necessary to dismantle all or part of the fixing members, and reassemble them differently on the same consoles or different consoles. It is also necessary to change the internal linings of the clamping jaws to conform to the particular racket frame to be corded.

Conformément au document US-C-4706955, on a proposé un appareil de cordage comprenant : - un support rigide ;
- un berceau de cordage, constitué essentiellement par une poutre, monté en rotation sur le support, réglable en position angulaire par l'opérateur, par rapport au support ;
- un moyen de fixation rigide mais amovible du cadre de la raquette sur le berceau de cordage ; ce moyen disposé sur le berceau comporte deux organes de fixation du cadre, montés en vis à vis, réglables en translation sur la poutre ; chaque organe de fixation comprend une potence et un moyen de pressage à plat monté sur la tête de la potence ; les deux moyens de pressage se font face et permettent de serrer le coeur et la tête du cadre de raquette respectivement ; un premir moyen de pressage consiste en une portée fixe et une butée réglable avec écrou ;
- les moyens ou butées latérales, par l'extérieur, du cadre de la raquette à corder ; ces moyens consistent à adjoindre à l'un des organes de fixation, deux bras s'étendant parallèlement au berceau de cordage, symétriquement par rapport à la poutre formant berceau de cordage ; ces deux bras sont articulés ensemble sur la tête de la potence, de manière réglable, entre une position écartée libérant le cadre, et une position rapprochée venant en butée à l'extérieur du cadre, par des rouleaux amobiles disposés de manière appropriée ;
In accordance with document US-C-4706955, a stringing apparatus has been proposed comprising: - a rigid support;
- A rope cradle, essentially constituted by a beam, mounted in rotation on the support, adjustable in angular position by the operator, relative to the support;
- A rigid but removable means of attachment of the racket frame on the string cradle; this means disposed on the cradle comprises two frame fixing members, mounted opposite, adjustable in translation on the beam; each fixing member comprises a bracket and a flat pressing means mounted on the head of the bracket; the two pressing means face each other and allow the heart and the head of the racket frame to be tightened respectively; a first pressing means consists of a fixed bearing and an adjustable stop with nut;
- the lateral means or stops, from the outside, of the frame of the racket to be strung; these means consist in adding to one of the fixing members, two arms extending parallel to the rope cradle, symmetrically with respect to the beam forming the rope cradle; these two arms are articulated together on the head of the bracket, in an adjustable manner, between a separated position releasing the frame, and a close position abutting outside the frame, by movable rollers arranged in an appropriate manner;
- A member for tensioning the cord wire, secured to the support, located at a distance from the cord cradle, and comprising a wire traction head.

Un tel appareil présente l'inconvénient suivant :Such a device has the following drawback:

Maintaining the frame of the racket appears irregular, since the only points or areas of firm attachment are formed by the pressing means explained above. In this regard, the lateral stops described above do not provide any rigid attachment to the frame of the racket, capable of counteracting local deformations of the frame under the effect of the tension exerted on the stringing wire. These stops can only limit the transverse displacement towards the outside of the frame, and nothing more.

The two devices described above have the following main drawback in common:

The shapes, geometries and thicknesses of the frame, which vary from one racket to another, have the consequence that the level or the height of the horizontal stringing plane, that is to say the sieve of the racket strung or to be tied, relative to the cradle of rope or to the rigid support, varies from one racket to another. Consequently, the level of the wire pulling head, or diabolo, varies significantly compared to the stringing plane, from one racket to another.

According to the French certificate of addition 43 577, this variation exists due to the independence of the various fixing members, removable with respect to the cradle, and because of the differences, tolerances, or different wear and tear between the different fixing members. .

According to document US Pat.

The impossibility of controlling the level or height of the stringing plane means that one cannot control the tension actually exerted on the stringing thread, taking into account the existence of a variable vertical component of the tension.

The subject of the present invention is a stringing apparatus which principally allows effective control of the height or level of the stringing plane, whatever the rackets. On a secondary basis, the invention relates to a stringing apparatus allowing both an effective and relatively complete clamping of the frame of the racket, and an ease of use for the operator.

- d'une part, grâce à des moyens de commande en déplacement des machoires de serrage, ces dernières sont mobiles uniquement dans le plan de référence, entre une position écartée libérant le cadre, et une position rapprochée serrant ce dernier ;
According to the present invention, first of all, by construction, a reference plane is defined, said stringing plane, situated at a predetermined level or height, in particular relative to the fixed support. Then, the specific means or characterizing the present invention are organized with respect to this reference plane, in the following manner:
- On the one hand, thanks to means for controlling the movement of the clamping jaws, the latter are movable only in the reference plane, between a separated position releasing the frame, and a close position clamping the latter;
- And secondly, each jaw includes means for self-positioning of the racket frame, under the effect of the displacement of at least one clamping jaw from the separated position to the close position, to bring the plane racket sieve in the reference string plane.

A preferred embodiment of the invention, but not exclusive, relates to an apparatus traditionally comprising two frame fixing members, arranged opposite on the cradle of rope, and each comprising a bracket. According to this mode, at least two jaws of clamping are secured respectively to two arms, forming clamping members of the racket frame; these arms extend above the rope cradle, and are each mounted on the head of a bracket, in an adjustable manner, and preferably together, between a separated position releasing the frame and a close position clamping the latter.

The invention thus makes it possible to fix in space the frame of the racket, in the manner of a vice, relative to a reference plane in which the stringing will be carried out.

As the invention makes it possible to control the level of the stringing plane, a preferred embodiment of the invention consists in providing a pulling head for the stringing wire, distinct from the rest of the tension member, and movable in height compared to the latter. And control means make it possible to place the traction head, on one side in the low position, retracted relative to the handle of the racket, when the angular position of the cradle is located within a reference angle, corresponding at the passage of the handle on the side of the tensioning member, and on the other side in the high position, coinciding for the cordage to be pulled with the reference stringing plane, and this when the angular position of the cradle is at outside the above-mentioned reference angle.

This solution allows the cord to be pulled horizontally and the vertical component of the tension exerted to be eliminated over most of the angular travel of the cord cradle. This eliminates a significant part of the harmful stresses exerted according to the prior art on the mechanical elements or members supporting the racket. It also removes part of the friction of the rope at its guide in the frame, which improves the accuracy as to the actual value of the tension of the rope.

Finally, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention, in a manner known per se, one or more pliers for tightening the cord, each movable in position in the plane of the cord or the screen, and each orientable around 'a pivot axis perpendicular to the sieve. And these clamps comprise, still in known manner, two jaws facing each other with an upper edge in the form of a comb, and means for bringing the two jaws closer or further apart from one another.

In a new way, according to the invention, each clamp is movable in the stringing plane along two axes of articulation, linked together but distinct, perpendicular to the stringing plane, namely:
a first axis, fixed in rotation relative to the rope cradle, around which a satellite arm is mounted in rotation, parallel to the cradle,
- And a second axis, fixed in rotation relative to the satellite arm, around which a gripper arm is mounted in rotation, parallel to the cradle.

Locking means are further provided for simultaneously locking in position, and the satellite arm with respect to the cradle, and the gripper arm with respect to the satellite arm.

Such an arrangement makes it possible to very easily move the clamps in the plane of the screen, while increasing the excursion range of the latter, which allows the stringing of large and small screens.

According to Figure 1, an apparatus according to the present invention comprises the following essential organs or elements:
- A rigid support 1, which can be placed on any flat and horizontal surface, or on a height-adjustable base or base; this support has for example a rectangular shape.
- A cradle 2 of rope, rotatably mounted on the support 1, and adjustable in angular position relative to the latter.

Le berceau 2 est solidaire d'un moyeu co-axial 15, tourillonné dans un logement cylindrique 16, co-axial également, appartenant au support 1.In accordance with Figures 2,3 and 6, the rope cradle 2 has a planar shape, and is mounted in rotation about an axis 12, perpendicular to the support 1. More specifically, the cradle 2 comprises an upper plate 13 and a plate lower 14, arranged at a distance from the plate 13, and connected to the latter by an oblique edge 14a. The cradle 2 is integral with a co-axial hub 15, journalled in a cylindrical housing 16, also co-axial, belonging to support 1.

The two fixing members 3 and 4 ensure the clamping in a horizontal position of the tennis racket 17 to be strung, shown in broken lines in Figures 2 and 3, and comprising a frame 17a and a handle 17b. The two members 3 and 4 come out arranged in exactly the same way so that it suffices to describe only one, for example the fixing member 3. The members 3 and 4 are arranged and rigidly mounted on the cradle 2, facing each other along the longitudinal axis 18 of the latter, corresponding to the axis of symmetry of your racket 17. The fixing member 3 comprises a bracket 19, directed perpendicularly to the cradle 2, two clamping arms of the frame, extending substantially parallel to the cradle 2, symmetrically with respect to the axis 18 of alignment of the fixing members 3 and 4. The general shape of these arms 20, seen from above (see FIG. 3) is in correspondence with the rounded profile of the frame 17a. The two arms 20 are each articulated on the head 19a of the stem 19, in an adjustable manner and together, between a separated position shown in FIG. 5, releasing the frame 17a from the racket, and a close-up position represented in FIG. and blocking this same frame 17a, in the direction of the arrows represented in FIG. 5.

The adjustable and concomitant articulation of the clamping arms 20 is obtained according to the embodiment shown in Figure 5:
- A slide 21 is mounted in the head 19a of the bracket, and is movable in translation in the vertical plane 22 of alignment of the fixing members 3 and 4; this slide 21 has two grooves 21a and 21b, aligned, directed perpendicular to the vertical plane 22 above.
- Two axes 23 of articulation of the two arms 20 respectively, are directed perpendicular to the rope cradle 2, and downwards; these two axes are journalled on the head 19a of the bracket 19, on either side of the cylindrical orifice 19b ensuring the sliding of the slide 21.
- Two fingers 24 are arranged on the two ends of the two arms 20 respectively, opposite the jaws 25 described below, these fingers 24 being engaged respectively in the grooves 21a and 21b.
a member 26 for adjusting the position of the slide 21 in the stem head 19a comprises a knurled knob 27 which can rotate freely relative to the head 19a, and located essentially outside of the stem 19, and a rod 28 threaded, co-axial with the slide 21, cooperating with a homologous thread of a thread 27a provided in the axis of the button softness 27.

The free end of each clamping arm 20 comprises a clamping jaw 25, directed and open towards the frame 17a of the racket, and more particularly shown in FIG. 4. Each of these jaws, of flattened shape, is directed so substantially perpendicular to the frame 17a of the racket. The opening 25a of each jaw 25 has a divergent transverse profile, V-shaped, symmetrical with respect to the reference plane 29 which will be discussed below. The internal wall of each jaw 25, and more precisely of the opening 25a, is covered with a molded lining 30, of plastic material, so as to promote the limited displacement of the frame 17a, without damaging it, when the arms of clamping 20 are brought towards the racket 17, in the direction of the arrows shown in Figure 5. The two oblique edges, or jaws of the opening 25a of each jaw 25, clear between them a passage or slot 25b, extending behind the opening 25a, and allowing the passage of the cordage wire.

As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the two arms 20 of the first fixing member 3 are directed towards the two arms 20 respectively of the second fixing member 4, so as to embrace the frame 17a of the racket. And, as shown in FIG. 4, the four corresponding jaws 25 extend in height, symmetrically on either side of the reference stringing plane 29. This, in conjunction with the technical characteristics described above, makes it possible to self-position and clamp the frame 17a of the racket, in the reference plane 29 parallel to the cradle 2, under the effect of the movement of the clamping arms 20, in the direction of the arrows shown in Figure 5, from the spread position to the close position, described above. During the movement of the jaws 25, from the outside towards the inside of the cradle 2, the frame 17a, whatever its geometry, its size or its thickness, is centered in the reference plane of rope 29; this is shown in particular in Figure 4, or there are shown two frames 17a of different thickness and dimensions.

As also shown in FIG. 2, the reference stringing plane, corresponding to that of the future sieve of the racket 17, and determined by the clamping jaws, is located above the heads 19a of the fixing brackets 19.

To complete the description of the fastening members 3 and 4, it must be indicated that each of them comprises a hook 31, or billiard, allowing the frame 17a of the racket to be held in abutment, and completing the action of fixing the jaws 25.

- un premier bouton molleté 27 comporte deux parties 271 et 272, solidaires en rotation l'une de l'autre ; la première 271 est située à l'extérieur de la tête 19a, et peut être manipulée par l'opérateur ; la seconde 272 est montée libre en rotation sur une bague insérée sur la tête 19a, et arrêtée en translation par une rondelle 71 ; c'est cette pièce 272 qui comporte le filetage 27a coopérant avec la tige filetée creuse 28 solidaire du coulisseau ;
- un deuxième bouton molleté 72 est monté libre en rotation sur le premier bouton 27, et plus précisément la partie 271, grâce à une bague d'arrêt 73, et un roulement à bille 74 annulaire entre les pièces 72 et 272 ;
Each billiard 31 is actuated and adjusted in translation, relative to the stem head 19a, independently of the arms (20) for clamping the frame. To do this, you can use the execution mode according to Figure 14, and briefly described as follows:
- A first knurled button 27 comprises two parts 271 and 272, integral in rotation with one another; the first 271 is located outside of the head 19a, and can be manipulated by the operator; the second 272 is mounted free in rotation on a ring inserted on the head 19a, and stopped in translation by a washer 71; it is this part 272 which comprises the thread 27a cooperating with the hollow threaded rod 28 integral with the slide;
a second knurled button 72 is mounted to rotate freely on the first button 27, and more precisely the part 271, by virtue of a stop ring 73, and an annular ball bearing 74 between the parts 72 and 272;
- the barrel 72a of the knurled button 72 has an internal thread cooperating with the threaded end 31a of the straight rod 31 of the billiard table; the latter slides freely inside the tube 28 secured to the slide 21, and the rod 31 is stopped in rotation by a pin secured to the slide.

Thus, each billiard table can be brought by the operator into abutment against the frame, and makes it possible to avoid any significant longitudinal displacement of the latter during the stringing.

Pour chaque pince de serrage, 6 ou 7, des moyens non représentés sont prévus pour rapprocher et éloigner les deux mors 32.In a manner known per se, the two clamps 6 and 7 of the cordage wire each comprise two jaws facing each other, of which only one 32a has been shown in FIG. 6, the upper edge 32a of the same jaw affecting the shape d 'a comb, to allow the passage of the transverse son of the sieve. For each clamp, 6 or 7, means not shown are provided for bringing the two jaws 32 together and away from them.

According to Figures 6 and 7, the two clamps 6 and 7 can all at the same time be moved in the stringing plane, and oriented around their own pivot axis 33, perpendicular to the cradle 2, or to the stringing plane cited above. To this end, the two clamps 6 and 7 are arranged relative to the cradle 2, in exactly the same way, so that only the description of the arrangement of the clamp 6 is sufficient, in accordance with FIGS. 6 and 7.

Le bras satellite 35 est situé au-dessous du plateau 13, et le bras 36 porte-pinces au-dessus de ce même plateau, le deuxième axe d'articulation 34 traversant librement la lumière circulaire 13a.According to this arrangement, the collet 6 is movable in the abovementioned stringing plane, along two articulation axes 12 and 34, linked but distinct, and both perpendicular to the same stringing plane. Around the first axis 12, fixed in rotation relative to the cradle 2 of rope, a satellite arm 35 is rotatably mounted, parallel to the cradle 2. Around the second axis 34, fixed in rotation relative to the satellite arm 35, a support arm -clamps 36 is rotatably mounted, always parallel to the cradle 2. This clamp-carrying arm supports a vertical barrel 37, within which is disposed the axis 33 of the clamp 6. The upper plate 13 of the cradle 2 has a light 13a circular, centered on the first axis of rotation 12. The satellite arm 35 is located below the plate 13, and the gripper arm 36 above this same plate, the second articulation axis 34 freely passing through the light circular 13a.

Bien entendu, selon l'invention, on prévoit des moyens de blocage simultané en position, décrits ci-après, et du bras satellite 35 par rapport au berceau 2, et du bras porte-pinces 36 par rapport au bras satellite 35.Of course, according to the invention, means are provided for simultaneous locking in position, described below, and of the satellite arm 35 relative to the cradle 2, and of the clamp-carrying arm 36 relative to the satellite arm 35.

In accordance with Figure 11, representing an embodiment of the block diagram explained in Figure 6, identical reference numerals denote members or parts having the same functions, described above. The locking means in position result from the combination of the following means:
the second axis of rotation 34 is mounted to rotate freely, in a sleeve 39 secured to the satellite arm 35.
- The gripper arm 36 is fixed in rotation on the outer and upper end 34a of the second axis 34, thanks to an appropriate knurling.
- a flange 38 is fixed in rotation, by a nut 40, on the inner and lower end 34b of the axis 34, parallel to the plate 13.
- An electromagnet 41 with coil 42 in a crown centered on the second axis 34, is integral with the satellite arm 35, between the flange 38 and the plate 13; the satellite arm 35 is free in translation, in a limited stroke, relative to the second axis 34, and the electromagnet 41 has two opposite active faces, namely one 41a opposite the metal plate 13, and the other 41b opposite the metal flange 38.
an electrical control means for the electromagnet 41 comprises:
  • 1 ° / a push button 43 guided in translation in an axial bore in the upper end 34a of the axis 34,
  • 2 ° / a control rod 44, arranged co-axially in the axis 34a, and free in translation relative to the latter,
  • 3 ° / a lever 45 secured to the satellite arm 35, and articulated on the latter, in connection at one end with the control rod 44,
  • 4 ° / a contactor 46 secured to the satellite arm 35, in connection with the other end of the lever 45.

Grâce à cette disposition, et à une alimentation électrique appropriée de l'électro-aimant 41, lorsque l'opérateur appuie sur le bouton 43, le levier 45 bascule vers le contacteur 46, pour alimenter la bobine 42 ; dès cet instant, la face active 41a de l'électro-aimant vient au contact de la plaque 13, et le bras satellite 35 se soulève légèrement, tandis que la face active 41b soulève et attire le flasque 38.Thanks to this arrangement, and to an appropriate electrical supply to the electromagnet 41, when the operator presses the button 43, the lever 45 switches to the contactor 46, to power the coil 42; from this moment, the active face 41a of the electromagnet comes into contact with the plate 13, and the satellite arm 35 lifts slightly, while the active face 41b lifts and attracts the flange 38.

Les moyens décrits précédemment permettent donc, d'une part, de bloquer en rotation le bras satellite 35 par rapport à la plaque 13, et donc au berceau 2, et d'autre part, de bloquer en rotation le bras porte-pinces 36, par rapport au bras satellite 35.The means described above therefore allow, on the one hand, to block in rotation the satellite arm 35 relative to the plate 13, and therefore in the cradle 2, and on the other hand, to block in rotation the clamp-carrying arm 36, relative to the satellite arm 35.

In accordance with Figures 8 to 10, the traction head 9 of the cordage wire is distinct from the rest of the tension member 8, and is articulated on the member 8, around a horizontal axis 47. This head 9 comprises in a manner known per se, on the one hand, a roller 48, or diabolo, used for winding the cording wire, and on the other hand, jaws for clamping the same wire, not shown. By pivoting about the axis 47, the traction head 9 is movable in height, relative to the member 8, between a low position (confer Figure 9), retracted relative to the handle 17b of the racket, and a position high (see Figure 10), coinciding for the string to be pulled, or the upper tangent plane of the diabolo 48, with the reference string plane 29, described and defined above. By the control means described below, the retracted position according to FIG. 9 is obtained when the angular position of the cradle 2, materialized by the angular position of the handle 17b, is located inside a reference angle 49, corresponding to the passage of the handle 17b on the side of the tension member 8. And the high position according to FIG. 10 is obtained when the angular position of the cradle 2 is outside the reference angle 49. According to the diagram of principle of Figure 10 and the embodiment of Figures 12 and 13, the drive head control means 9 is arranged as follows.

The tension member 8 comprises a column 50 on the head of which is articulated the traction head 9. A control rod 51 slides in the column 50, and is supported by its upper end 51a with the traction head 9. A cam 52 is rotatably mounted on the base of the column 50 , and is in contact with the lower end 51b of the rod 51. An electric motor 53 rotates the cam 52. The rotational travel of the cam 52 is limited to half a turn, thanks to a finger 54, integral in rotation of the aforementioned cam and located outside the member 8, cooperating with two limit switches 55. Thanks to two bosses located on the support 1, and delimiting the reference angle 49, the electric motor 53 for controlling the cam 52 is activated or deactivated, depending on whether a specific contactor present on the periphery of the cradle 2 is switched on or off by any of the above-mentioned bosses.

As for the tension member 8, it slides on a ball slide 56, and is driven towards the rear of the device, by a motorized pinion and a chain, not shown. The actuation of the motor 53, so as to raise the traction head 9 at the level of the reference plane 29, takes place before tensioning of the cordage, by the motorized recoil as previously described of the member 8.
