Abstract

The screening machine is intended for bulk material, in particular flour, and has an inlet (8) for the bulk material, downstream of which is a screen (28). The bulk material is conveyed through the screen (28) by means of an air current. Lying beyond the screen (28) in the conveying path of the bulk material is a zone (45) of reduced static pressure which is joined, in the conveying direction, to a conveying region (44) of increasing cross-section. The weight of the bulk material upstream of the outlet (9) for the screened bulk material is at least approximately equal to the oppositely directed pressure (P 5) of compressed air below an air-permeable feed (29) of the bulk material. The bulk material can be conveyed through the screening machine uniformly and without the risk of breakdown of the flow of bulk material. <IMAGE>
