Abstract

A packaging tube for compressed tablets, pills and similar products is provided with a bottom cavity which is separated from the container portion of the tube by a partition wall, a removable box being inserted in the cavity in the same manner as an end plug. The removable box is formed by two half-shells which are connected together by means of a flexible tongue. The half-shells cooperate so as to form a closed box by means of a skirt extending from the flat portion of the half-shell which forms the base of the box and by means of a rib carried by the internal face of the flat main portion of the half-shell which forms the lid of the box, the rib being applied against the internal face of the skirt. The closed box can be introduced into the cavity in the same manner as an end-plug or stopper by virtue of the skirt, which is provided with an abutment shoulder.

Description

The invention relates to a packaging tube for tablets, cachets and the like.

Tablets, cachets, capsules and other pills are often packaged in tubes or vials, in glass or plastic. Due to the size of the products in question or their quantity, the tubes can have large dimensions and patients are sometimes reluctant to clutter them when they have to leave their home for a few hours or even a few days depending on the dosage they have to follow.

To overcome this drawback, the present invention provides a plastic packaging tube for tablets, cachets and similar products, which has at its lower part a cavity, formed between a partition of the tube and the side wall of the tube, in which houses a removable reserve box forming a stopper.

The box consists of two half-shells joined by a flexible tab allowing them to come opposite to form the box.

The shell constituting the bottom of the box has a flat main part from which protrudes a vertical skirt whose external dimensions correspond to the internal dimensions of the cavity of the tube, a shoulder abutting against the end of the wall of the cavity.

The shell constituting the cover of the box has a flat main part surrounded by a rib intended to come to fit against the internal wall of the skirt of the bottom shell and a flange coming to bear on the end of the skirt.

Other advantages and characteristics of the invention will appear on reading the following description, with reference to the drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a partially sectional view of a tube according to the invention,
  • Figure 2 is a top view of the open box.

La paroi latérale (5) du tube (1 )se prolonge au-delà de la cloison (4) fermant la partie contenant (2) en formant une cavité (6).The packaging tube (1) is a cylindrical tube comprising a container part (2) proper, closed at its upper part by a conventional plug (3); that shown in Figure 1 is for example provided with a flexible device (3a) limiting the movement of the tablets in the tube. The side wall (5) of the tube (1) extends beyond the partition (4) closing the container part (2) by forming a cavity (6).

This cavity is closed by a plug constituting a removable box. The cap consists of two half-shells advantageously joined by a flexible tongue (15). The shell constituting the bottom of the box has a circular outline cut along a cord: there is thus a straight edge forming a space between the stopper and the wall of the cavity which facilitates the removal of the stopper. A skirt (7) projecting from the flat part (8) maintains the plug in the cavity because of its two portions in an arc of a circle concentric with the cavity and connected together by rectilinear portions parallel to the right edge of the shell. The upper part of the skirt (7) is slightly thinner in the portions in an arc after a shoulder (.13). A shoulder (14) abuts against the end of the wall (5) of the cavity (6). The main flat part (8) of the bottom may include a raised central part delimited by a line (8a) having or not the same outline as the skirt (7), but this is only a detail not constituting the invention .

The half-shell forming the lid of the box has an outer contour with portions in an arc connected by two rectilinear portions, the connecting tab (15) being located between the rectilinear portion of the bottom and a first rectilinear portion of the lid. The two half-shells are fitted together by a rib (11) projecting from the internal face of the flat part (10) of the cover, a flange (12) covering the upper part of the skirt (7). The shape and dimensions of the rib (11) are such that the rib is placed elastically against the internal face (9) of the skirt (7). On the free rectilinear portion, there is preferably provided a rounded tab (16) facilitating the opening of the box. A fold line (17) facilitates the positioning of the cover on the bottom by bending the tongue. When the box is closed, it can be introduced like a plug into the cavity (6).

When the patient wishes to take only a few tablets, he takes out the box from the cavity (6), places the desired number of tablets there and then has only to store in his belongings a space-saving box. If the box is not used, he replaces it in the cavity to avoid losing it.

The packaging tube is preferably made of rigid plastic, for example in the form of a tube with two open ends comprising a partition dividing the interior into two unequal parts, the part containing (2) a part and the cavity (6) on the other hand. The plug (3) can be of any conventional type, while the removable box is made, for example, of flexible plastic material to allow bending of the tongue (15).
