Description
Process for the production of pure zinc sulphate from zinc sulphate and sodium sulphate containing alkalis The invention is a process for obtaining the Zinc sulphate made from zinc sulphate in addition to solutions containing sodium sulphate, such as those z. B. from chlorinated roasted Abbränderi zinc-containing gravel, especially pyrite, can be obtained.
Man Setzt zweckmäßig z. It has been found that it is possible to get the zinc sulfate contained therein practically free of sodium sulfate from such solutions by adding a sufficient amount of sulfuric acid to the solution and then evaporating the solution. It is appropriate to use z. B. about as much sulfuric acid as is necessary to convert all of the sodium sulfate present into bisulfate and advantageously also an excess of at least to% z. B. of about 2o0 / "but care must be taken that the amount of sulfuric acid added is not so great that sodium bisulfate can be precipitated from the solution during the subsequent evaporation. Instead of or in addition to sulfuric acid, one can wholly or partially use advantageously also containing sulfuric acid waste liquors in an appropriate amount, B. B. z. strongly acidic Endlaugen the electrolysis of z. B. by the present process produced zinc sulfate. When processing a liquor which z is in liters. about 300 g of zinc sulfate and about 120 g of sodium sulphate, it is possible, by adding the appropriate amount of sulfuric acid and evaporating the sulfuric acid lye to about 60% of the initial volume, to precipitate about half of the zinc present in pure form, and in this way the same is obtained in the form of the monohydrate Too extensive evaporation is to be avoided, as sodium sulphate is also removed if a certain limit is exceeded being divorced.
This method can be used with particular advantage, for. B. use for Extraction of zinc sulphate from chlorinated roasted products containing zinc and copper Gravel burn-off by leaching, and one proceeds expediently in such a way that one first in the lye by repeated action of the same on fresh roasted food after each previous precipitation of the copper and possibly other Accompanying substances as well as the Glauber's salt enriches the zinc sulfate and finally from the solution enriched in zinc sulfate after the addition of sulfuric acid in any Form which causes zinc sulfate to be excreted as a monolarydrate. This way of working has the advantage of being a Focus on the one-time only Leaching of the roasted burns that have been roasted in a chlorinating manner. obtained dilute zinc sulfate solution is avoided.
The mother liquor remaining after separation of the zinc sulphate can be returned to the process after separation of the major part of the acidic sodium sulphate it contains by adding it to fresh water before .dem crystallization process, at the same time as the sulfuric acid necessary to convert the sodium sulphate into bisulphate, adding as a result of the excess sulfuric acid content of the mother liquor, a corresponding saving in sulfuric acid to be added is achieved. Example A ton of chlorinated roasted gravel burns (with 2.5 % Cu and 2.5% Zn) is leached with 1 cbm of water and dilute sulfuric acid (the residue is free of zinc and still contains about 0.06% Cu) whereupon the lye is digested with 100 to 150 kg of cement copper for the purpose of precipitating the copper as copper chlorine. The solution that has been decoppered as far as possible is used to leach a new burned charge and the lye is then decuppered again. After the second copper removal, the solution is so enriched in sodium sulphate that when it cools to about + 5 °, about zoo kg of Glauber's salt crystallize out of 1 cbm. The process of burn-off leaching, copper removal and freezing of the Glauber's salt is now continued until the content of the solution is about 300 9 zinc sulphate and 12o g sodium sulphate per liter. About 130 kg of sulfuric acid 60 ° Be are added to 1 cbm of this lye. It is then evaporated to about 600 l. Around 165 kg of zinc sulphate monohydrate are deposited during the evaporation. The sulfuric acid mother liquor is used in the reduction. of the copper chloride made usable by cement copper.
