Abstract

Process for prodn. of moulded articles and sheet materials from a mixt. of (pref. recycled) milled rubber and polyethylene, in which the blend is prepd. by (a) melting and kneading the polyethylene in a mixer/kneader preheated to ca. 120 deg C, (b) after ca. 3 mins. kneading time, adding the milled rubber and any additives (e.g. carbon black) and continuing to a total kneading period of ca. 5-6 mins. and (c) after removal from the kneader, compounding the mixt. on hot rolls at ca. 120 deg C for ca. 2 mins.. Pref. the milled rubber is EPDM or NR/SBR and is milled to a particle size of less than 1.25 mu m. The compsn. comprises 50-70 wt.% milled rubber and 50-30 wt.% polyethylene.

Claims (4)

1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Formartikeln und Flächenwaren aus einer Mischung, insbesondere einer Recyclingmischung, auf der Basis Gummimahlgut und Polyethylen, wobei die Herstellung der Polyethylen-Mahlgutmischung in folgenden Verfahrensschritten abläuft:
  • - das Polyethylen wird in einem auf etwa 120°C vorgewärmten Mischungskneter (Innenmischer) aufgeschmolzen und geknetet;
  • - nach ca. 3 Minuten Knetzeit wird das Mahlgut und gegebenen­ falls die Zusatzstoffe (z. B. Ruß) dazugegeben, wobei der gesamte Knetvorgang ca. 5 bis 6 Minuten dauert;
  • - nach dem Auswurf aus dem Mischungskneter wird die Polyethylen- Mischung auf eine auf etwa 120°C vorgewärmte Walze gegeben und ca. 2 Minuten durchgearbeitet.
