Bei Aufbringung hinreichend großer Kräfte, zum Beispiel mit Hilfe eines Spreizdorns üblicher Bauart zur Aufweitung von Rohren, ist es daher möglich, Rohrenden von Rohren aus Polyolefin reversibel aufzuweiten. Unter den herrschenden Bedingungen bei Umgebungstemperatur erfolgt die Rückumwandlung in den ursprünglichen Zustand, d. h. auf die ursprüngliche Rohrweite mit relativ geringer Geschwindigkeit, so daß der Spreizdorn aus dem aufge weiteten Rohr entnommen und das noch aufgeweitete Rohr ende auf das jeweils gewünschte Anschlußteil aufgesteckt werden kann.
